Ever been shot at?

Just wondering if any of y'all have been shot at. Not counting any vets who may have seen combat, has anyone had bullets fly in their direction? I'll go first.

Twice. Once when I was around 10, me and a friend we're playing in the woods on summer vacation, and we came upon some guys in their mid-teens shooting a 20 gauage a couple hundred yards downhill from us on flat, open area in the swamp. I know it was a 20 guage because later we went back and found the empty shells. Anyway, they looked up and saw us, and the fella behind the trigger decided to point at us and pull the trigger! We hit the deck, and the shot rattled through the trees over our heads, and I know at that distance it wouldn't have had much oomf to it, but still freaky.

Second time me and another friend were woodchuck hunting a pasture at a local livestock auction site. Yes we had permission [:D] Anyway, at the top of the hill, it flattened out and made a sort of "T" and we used to sit under a big tree and glass for 'chucks. We got up and started to move towards one corner to check where the hill rolled where we couldn't see and heard the report from across the field and then another. SHortly afterwards some wierdo cam out of the woods, plastic bags tied at his waist, and a couple squirrels dangling from his belt with his rifle at the ready, then backed into the woods again and disappeared from view.

Anyone else have any similar stories to share?

On patrol in Philadelphia, quiet Sunday morning, this black dude comes running out of his house, naked, yelling someone was trying to kill him. I slowed the car down to talk to him, thinking he was nuts, just then out of the same house, another black guy comes running, holding a 1911 45 caliber. He sees me and starts letting lead fly in my direction, I put the car in drive, ducked down and ran that s.o.b. over, knocked him clear over the hood of my patrol car. He executed a perfect two point landing and took off running. Finally caught him a few blocks away. He had fired seven shots at me. I was checking myself for blood and holes, but I was very lucky that day! The shooter was admitted to Hahnemann Hospital with multiple contusions and a 6-D cell flashlight impression in his skull.

ive been hit by shot when ive been duck hunting...some people value killing a duck more than human life.

had someone put a .22 rifle to my stomach and say they were going to shoot me...i put the barrel to my head and told him he better make sure he did a good job..cause if i lived i`d kill him and everyone in his family...he changed his mind for some reason and then the cops arresred him..he got 3 months and served one..been a few other times when lead whistled around me, but nothing real serious...i got no problem with some idiot shooting at me from 300 yards away with a .22 ...especially when i`ve got a 30-06 [:)]..3 rounds fired real quick usually makes `em look for safer targets.

Yes in IN when I went to colect money that was owed to me, He said come in and as I entered the house his friend opened up with a shotgun. I ran out the door and headed for home to get my gun but then I realized 100 bucks isnt worth a gunfight. Saw the guy at walmart the following week and beat the living hell out of him and moved out of IN to never go back.

When I first starting reading your story I thought I had found an old friend! Me and my buddy were a little older and riding a mini bike in Woodbridge VA in the woods behind our homes, lots of trails through a swampy area. Anyway same sort of thing we came up on some Hunters and they told us we had to leave so we did, did say nothing smart or anything. As we were leaving they fired a shotgun with rock salt and splattered my buddy's * (he was riding behind me) he yelped and held on tighter and I gunned it as fast as it would go out of there. They were never found by the time the police got there.

Another two times while collecting money for a finance company in the ghetto I had a gun held on me but not fired thank god!
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

Twice....the first time I was rabbit hunting with a couple of buddies
back during my High School days. A rabbit ran between myself and one of the other guys. His shot hit in front of the rabbit and some of the shot bounced off the ground and hit me in the leg. Never hunted with him again.

The second time was during Handgun Deer Season ten or so years ago. I was sitting under a tree and about a half a mile across the meadow was an elderly gentleman. A group of guys were pushing a mile or so down the way and a couple does busted out of the woods. The gentleman fired two round, he missed both shots and the second shot
was in my direction, I could hear it coming. It went through the tree about 3 feet above my head.

Never hunted with any of those guys since either.

Got hit by a stray 22 cal centerfire bullet that had to be dug out of my hip.

Caught part of a ricochet in the left arm from a 7.62x54R at the shooting range. This is why I am not a fan of steel targets.

Twice also. First time I was out deer hunting. I saw a nice little four point (8 point to you white tail hunters) about 25 yards away, about another 25 yards behind him was a kid I had moments before waved to and he waved back. I didn't try to shoot it because of the kid behind it. But the brat didn't extend the same courtesy to me. He took the shot, missed and I heard the bullet wizz by my ear... I beat the piss out of him, and about an hour later I had to beat the piss out of his dad..If his dad would have given me the time to explain why I beat up his son, it would have saved him a butt kicking. Because after I beat him I told him why I beat up his son. He apologized to me and took his belt off and started to whip his son (that was back when it was legal to whip a kid with a belt)...

The second time I was driving up Parleys Canyon (deer hunt season) and I heard a loud pop and something hit me in the chest. But not hard enough to penetrate. The pop was my wind shield, there was a small hole in it and it cracked the heck out of it. I pulled over, And found a .30 caliber rifle bullet in between my legs on the seat...Some one had apparently shot a long distance away and it found my wind shield and me. It had enough left to it to go through my wind shield but not enough left to put a hole in me, just a good bruise. So I know it was just an accident and not someone trying to shoot me

Scary to get shot at but more scarer to look thru a scope and see someones head in the crosshairs and know you have to pull the trigger.

A few times. The ones I'll tell about where accidents, I think, I never seen the shooter anyway. I was walking through the woods behind my house during early squirrel season when I was 15 or 16. Some crap for brains person with a black powder rifle shot somewhere down the creek bottom in front of me, And a big bore bug went wacking through the bushes and leaves, it zipped four or five feet to my right at about head level, I saw it splinter a small limb rattle some leaves and then it hit something behind me, I yelled and no one answered and I found only a few scuffs where someone had made there way up a hillside.

the second time I was heading for a buddies house and did not witness the incident itself, but came along to see my friend with a hole the size of bird egg in his left shoulder above the collar bone going down inside him. He was leaning against a chair still wearing his earplugs.[:D] There was a .50BMG rifle in front of him, and a steel target about 10 meters from the front door. He looked up at me and smiled and said: "OOPs, seemed like a grand Idea at the time." I got him to the hostpital, and they removed a chunk of copper jacket and lead from him that would have made a sane mother faint.

first time, shot at a bowling pin with 12ga 7 1/2 shot, bounnced back and hit me.

second time, in Argentina dove hunting, heard the pattern coming from a ridge above, caught one in the temple, swelled up like a marble.

third time, in Argentina dove hunting, we were walking up Perdiz and one flew out in front of our line, then came back between 2 of us. I was swinging on him and saw someone in the background, stopped and covered my face and head just as the shot from his 28ga covered me and the birdboy. Birdboy said, in South American accent,"HEY,.....I AM NOT THE PEEJUN" LMAO

In high school several of us decided to get the jump on duck season and near dark the evening before the season opened we were gathered around a pond at the edge of a field when what seemed like half the duck population in the world started to come in. It sounded like a war zone with all those shotguns going off and ducks falling everywhere. That's when we heard the distinct sound of a 22 rifle and bullets flying by us. The crazy landowner adjacent to the property we were on apparently objected to our little party and was shooting "at" us! We weren't going to leave all those ducks, so between dodging bullets we picked up all of the ducks and got the heck out of there! Thank goodness he didn't hit any of us!

In later years there were two Migs; but the F4's arrived on time and besides that's not what this thread is about!

If you can't feel the music; it's only pink noise!

    Yes, I been shot at.
Me and a friend back in '87 just passed our hunter safety course and got our licenses. I was 17ys old at the time and not working yet. We were walking about 15 yards inside of a woodlot edge. We came to the end of the woodlot and it opened up into an abandoned farm field. We started down the East side of this over grown hedge row and as I mentioned to my friend the 5 guys halfway up the trees about 150 yards West of us, the ground started jumping around us. Those hunters up in the trees were shooting at us and we just crawled to a fallen tree and waited for the shooting to stop. After the shooting stopped we got up and ran back to the woods from where we came and headed home.[B)][:0]
See, there was a drive going on at that time and we didn't know until later. Those 5 hunters had pump shotguns w/full magazines.[:(]
I have to admit here and now that this was MY fault. [8][B)]
See, the only jacket I had for winter was a Arctic Parka or "snorkel parka" colored in TAN. Yes, I said, "Tan." [:0]
That quickly changed for the next time. I'd earned some money and bought a TreeBark revesable vest, which I still have.

Almost every time I go hunting someone shoots in my direction...I can't believe a stuped pen raised pheasant is so important that you would risk hurting someones eyesight let alone their lives.

I drove up on a drive-by shooting just after it happened in Lima, OH. That was a scarry situation. Bunch of niggrs standing around gawking pointing. Many were gang members who were armed. There's nothing more dangerous then a bunch of pissed off * with guns that have just been shot at. I just hit the gas and got out of there.

When I was a teenager hunting birds my dumb friends were on another ridge shooting 22's that were so close I could hear them whining by my head.I hollered and that didn't stop it so I returned fire with
my 12 gauge semi auto and that stopped them promptly ! After several more incidents like that during same hunting season I gave up hunting for 30 years until my son wanted to try it.
