It actually does get cold there.

Son Travis spent 15 months there, mostly burning up the roads doing convoy security. 23 IED incidents and four firefights, and he came home in one piece.

check out www.globalsecurity.org it has most of fob's and or camps listed and what they do. i have been to iraq twice, people dont believe they do have seasons. right now it is gearing up to become real hot. august is like satans twin sister.

That's where the youngest is going, later this year. It will be his 2nd oversea tour, but his first was S. Korea.

Travis is the only one wearing a cap, not a boonie hat,
in both pictures.

In Travis' company, there were no boys killed, and only
two got hurt badly enough to be sent home. Both have
recovered. If this action continues another two years,
Travis could go back.

if he is lucky enough to get to actually stay on the FOB for a few hours, there used to be a massage parlor run by some filipinas. Its cheap.

He is digital Sat communications, and he has a Humvee. I don't know what he will be doing when he get there. I don't think they let that stuff outside the wire.

That's good. Humvees don't hold up well after striking an IED. The M1117 will take a pretty good bomb hit and keep on rolling. The M1117 is mainly the reason that Charlie Company 1/16 Infantry had so few casualties. Another good thing about the M1117 as opposed to the Humvee is that you don't have to unbutton and expose yourself to fire the weapons.

His stuff is in the back of the Humvee, and there is another Humvee for the generator. I still don't think they would let his stuff outside the wire. I think over there his stuff would be more strategic, than tactical (I'm learning all kinds of new stuff).
