amber alert signs in NC yesterday spelled
"Amber alert
call 511 for more info"


WTH?

They dont want you to talk on your phone while driving, but hey want you to make a call while driving in order to potentialy help.


Wouldnt it make allot more sense just to spell out the make/model/year/color of the vehicle and hopefully state lic. plate number.

    How about each Amber Alert sign include one of those cheap short range AM transmitters like they use near tourist attractions? When you see the announcement you tune your radio to AM 550 or whatever, and get a loop recording describing the kid, the perp, and the vehicle. That would be better than trying to use your cell while in traffic.

    That the heck. I just logged into the Amber home site and left that as a suggestion. I'll let you guys know what they respond. Hate to be a pessimist, but I can hear it now, "Oh that's too complicated." or "That's too expensive."
    1. It's not technically complicated at all.
    2. How expensive is it compared to a fatal accident caused by someone operating their cell phone in heavy traffic?
