Some of my Mauser conversions started out looking like that, but after welding the "bolt" handle I bent the "bolt", ground down and polished the weld marks an put a knob at end of bolt etc.

I bet that there Bubba uses a rope as a belt. THat is one redneck repair job! There is no way I would show that job in public.

"I think his training in gunsmithing included a 6 pack."

Your making fun of drunk gunsmiths has hurt my feelings.
Sixteen years ago I bought a couple of Swedish Mausers for $100 apiece. The gun store had 150 of 'em on the rack, and they had another 350 in the back room.
I fired them a few times, I really didn't know anything about Mausers.
It got to bugging me that they had that straight bolt.
One night, I had drunk a six pack, I think it was Heineken, but it may have been Budweiser. I decided to fix that bolt on one of the rifles.
I took the bolt all apart. I got two pair of vice grips, and a propane torch. Heated it up and bent it. I knew a blacksmith who quenched newly made chisels in oil, so I quenched that hot bolt in oil.
Hell, it worked great. The gun still shoots fine. The curve of the bolt is not quite the angle a gunsmith would do, but it is ok.

Are we looking at the same gun???[B)][:0]

I do beg to differ with ya'll though, even Bubba could have done a better job than that!!

By the way.....VERY VERY VERY nice setup select![8D]

I started out doing mauser converisons by bending the bolt with a propane torch and a hammer. Then I got brave and cut the bolt handle off and tried to weld it with one of those oxygen pellets mini welders and I messed up a couple of bolt bodies. they I got a big welder with big tanks that could melt anything. I filled the bolt body with heat absorbing paste and got to be pretty good at welding on new handles.

Then somebody told me i could buy a commercial bolt body for about $30 with a nice bend and a checkered knob.

Those Swedish mausers are probably worth 400.00[:)]

As long as the bolt hasn't been bent[:0][:o)]

Actually I think it has been bubberized. Not many can do work like that. Has a certain rustic charm. About $8 worth.

This is what makes it a true one of a kind Custom gun. All it needs now is some handy dremel work, and a little stock carving.[:D]

Hey, I kind of like the idea of being able to take down my gun with a impact wrench and running on down to Home depot for gun parts.

You are right. I have since learned the error of my ways. I have bought two more Swedes, have a couple books on them, and have given up gunsmithing.
I wouldn't dare post this on the Swede forum, they would ride me out of town on a rail.

You could also add whether it is metric or not?

If you look closely the idiot did use a hardened bolt. 3 Marks on the bolthead.

I'd give the guy a hundred bucks and fix the bolt myself and refinish the stock. Does started at $275 mean that's his minimum price? How much would one of those be worth if it looked like the one select has?

Wonder what else is wrong with the gun?

If you run a straight edge along the barrel in the first pic it seems to be bent. I wonder if the barrel was bent when he clubed something hard enough to break the bolt off. And why didn't he just have the original bolt handle welded back on and finished properly?

hughbetcha, Remington did 5115 guns thru their custom shop. Numrich's does not have any bolts.
