IB6UB9 License Plate Deemed Obscene; Robert Anaya Fights Santa Fe MVD With Constitution
Is this license plate obscene? The Santa Fe Motor Vehicle Division thinks it is, but one man in New Mexico is fighting the department with a little thing called the US Constitution.

Robert Anaya's vanity plate, which reads "IB6UB9," has been dubbed "controversial" by media outlets like KOAT and was revoked by the agency after apparent complaints since it was issued in 2008. The plate appears to be an acronym for "I be 6, you be 9," a reference to a sex position.

Even though Anaya maintains that the plate is an inside joke between him and his friends, his lawyer says it doesn't matter.

Have a buddy who had this plate on his Jeep:
    JP4SKIN

Has had many a cop ask of its meaning. He maintains it's to mean, Jeep for skiing.[:I]
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

Pretty soon all the numbers and colors will be taken; THEN what will people be able to be offended by?
My hat's off to the folks that have the imagination to find something wrong with that license plate.
Let people be what ever number they want, where ever they want.[:)]

Didn't get a choice here, but my tags only cost $3.75/yr. Guess I can't complain.
I do support whatever anybody wants to have , within reason. I just don't want to draw that much attention to myself.

I had a Florida tag on my Harley that read "ECSTASY", after two years the state sent me a letter saying that they were not going to renew my tag as it had been deemed "obscene" or "objectionable". After months of going back and forth, I finally got to the head guy from the department of motor vehicles who told me that the state uses a book of slang words and terms that was created by, of all persons, inmates in state prisons to determine the acceptability of certain words. Long story short, after some conversation and reading Webster's definition of the word, the state agreed to let me keep the tag.

What about the guy who wanted his name on his license plate, but didn't want to pay the extra fee. So he changed his name to GCY-8493.

In high school I requested, and got, plate 54A 6969. Still have it somewhere. The next year I ended up with truck plate S 55555 and mc plate number 100000, both by chance. Cool!
