Super. When something breaks till she gets out...Just laugh and have a cold beer. Sometimes they win a battle... but the Landlord wins the War.

You might have to send someone by to look at that thing.. and make sure the thermostat wires aren't rubbing. Hate to see it quit in this heat. SC has a rule.. Landlord has a reasonable time to repair anything. And with that restraining order..well you just cannot talk to them on the phone. Sad situation.

How is a restraining order good for YOU? In most states that I know if you get one, you have to have all firearms removed from your home.

I believe that is only when a spouse files against you. The renter has no business being in your home, a spouse does.

..Renters...[:(]..Deadbeats. We've filed again to evict one of my Mom's tenants. Chronically behind on rent. Excuses that he's used before. Money orders were lost in the mail, etc. I never wanted to be a landlord but Mom's 92 and has advanced dementia.

..In IL, it's not as easy as just telling them they have 30 days notice. They were served with a notice to pay up within 5 days or be out in 30. We still have to take them to court. Most of the rights are on the renter's side. We don't even care about the back rent, we just want him out. I'm not much on legal matters, so of course a lawyer has to be involved.

asking her for rent, wrote me a bad check. i told them to find another place, said i was going to start evict, and did. the next day she tells judge she an her boyfriend are scarred of me, an gets a temp tpo, court for that is the 26th, she has to be out monday,i will call police to have her removed, as per evict order.shes out an i dont care where or what she has to do.

after she is out i will direct the officer to notify trespass order, then put her stuff on the street.

There needs to be a better way to screen renters.
My daughter got caught in this renter scam.
The people have been ordered to pay her and five others.
And I am sure they are scamming someone else.
    She is owed $2500.00 dollars.
She knows she will not see a penny.

A friend that rents his parents old house keeps the power in HIS name. Renters don't pay...he shuts off the power. They WILL leave.

I refuse to rent out my mom's house. The last time I had renters, they burned it down starting a fire with gasoline. It was built by my great great grandfather in 1826. Those are the last ones that will ever be on my property.

well, they were out sunday night, something about having to move out at night says your running.

house was not all that bad, she surprised me and had gotten all the trash too.

i dont even think i will seek judgement on them, more folks should learn to let things go.

pulled old carpet out today an did the assessment of things that need fixing, will try to get it ready for sept. to rent.

folks are all ready asking to get on the list for when its ready, going up to 425.00 this time, heck its gonna have new flooring in it.

the stove was the worst thing, its a cheap wirlpool but its going to take some scrubbn and soakn, i put it on the back deck with oven cleaner all over it, will hit with the pressure washer.

grapevine said she was thinking about dropping the tpo, but whatever.

Thankfully I have a free state system that checks criminal and civil background. I eliminate ( criminal domestic violence, assaults, drug issues, eviction issues..( too many)..) That eliminates a ton of folks... however do not give up.. still decent folks around.

and as far as having utilities in the landlords name and turning them off... Big NO NO.. That can get you in huge trouble. Utilities cannot be denied during the tenancy. Regardless who's name they are in.
