Adding wireless technology to these things is a plan for colossal computer hacks and royal screw-ups.

I wouldn't mind computers in cars so much if they weren't so inaccessible, secretive and costly to deal with. As it is only the manufacturer and hackers knows what is hidden within. You cannot fix it yourself and it will cost you a small fortune when it finally breaks.

The Jeep died in the late 80s

Now there are fancy vehicles running around with the name tag on them.[:(!]

I don't know if it makes a difference
but they were hacking an app not the car,
I could be wrong, only caught half the story.

They were able to control most systems in the vehicle, and shut off the engine while it was driving.

This is a vulnerability in many things that are connected to the web, from vehicles to medical devices. And most of these companies want driverless cars where are totally at the mercy of computers, because we all know they work perfectly all the time.

Pray real hard the hackers don't get into an ICBM, launch it and drive it where they want.
