I was looking on the auction side after reading the F.A. lower topic.

There are slim pickings. I searched NFA, CLASS 3, FULL AUTO.

Not much is comming up. I remember lots of MACs, grease guns, M16s, links, DIAS. But next to nothing now.

they have become a lot less scare over the last few years. i frequently peruse the nfa section. its nice to dream. it used to be better populated.

there was a registered lightning link for sale not long ago. was at like 12k and had bids. i fully and completely understand the significance of the tax stamp, but 12 grand? for that little piece of metal? damn...

If someone is stopped at a range by LEOs for firing a F.A. and the shooter hands them a tax stamp them what happens?

Is it called in? checked any further?

I guess what Im saying is, could someone counterfit a tax stamp and have a lower that matches ser #s and get by any standard check?

First of all 99.99999999% of LEOs including most ATF Agents probably have no idea what they are looking for in a "tax" stamp or the accompanying documents. Some(very few IMHO) may just know that you're supposed to have a tax stamp, but many LEOs have no idea about what is required for legal F/A possession. It is just not something that we see, or deal with, and unless you own one yourself or are into guns you're just not gonna know.

A person is more likely to get in trouble for having an SBR or AOW than being caught with an illegal F/A.

Was just wondering, the documents that you have to carry with you, if you just go to the range for an afternoon?

Also, the people that go to Knob Creek, do they have to bring their lawyers and a brief case of documents, just to be able to shoot?

you DO NOT under federal law have to show your class 3 paperwork to ANY police officer, unless they have a search warrant. it is considered private tax information. on the other hand, if the batf demands it, you have to show it to them. i get asked all the time when out shooting to see my papers? most police call them license papers? they have no clue what they are or even what to look for if i had it with me.

when i refuse to show them they almost always start the crap of how they are going to arrest me, all my guns are illegal ect!! i simply tell them to take a serial number off one of the guns, and call the atf. they already know where i live.

most just take my personal info and leave, but almost 90% of them give me the story of why does anyone need these kind of weapons? and how someone could get hurt, or someone might steal them. all the while, they have full auto m-16s in their cars. you see they are way better trained to handle them than your average citizen.

Really? Well you would last about 15 seconds and be cuffed if you didn't. Paperwork has to be on the premise or with the gun at all times. A good attitude also helps. You get mouthy with a LEO and they will arrest you for something. Knob creek.. been there.. Yes the attorneys do not have to go. Just your paperwork with the gun and Interstate paperwork if you are out of state. Folks make mountains out of molehills to own a class 3.
