New Gun for my Anniversary ????

25th coming up in a couple of weeks. My wife asked if there was a firearm I would like for my gift. After thinking my way through this I am torn between a nice old S&W Model 60 or a Ruger MK III Hunter. I keep running the pros and cons of each. What do you think ?

Its totally your decision but if it were me I would go for the MarkIII. They look like a blast to shoot. I would really like to get my hands on the new MarkIII in .17hmr[:D]

Get them both, for the 25 years you have invested it's a small reward but a start.

Make it a Colt. Diamondback, Python, MkIII or MKIv. My 2 cents [8D]

Already have several Colts including a Python....I was trying to come up with something different from what I currently own.

In my opinion, I think you would use the Ruger a lot more. Its much cheaper to shoot and looks really cool. The S&W would take up space in the gun safe after you got tired of dry firing it with the smap caps.

Mark III, you will never get tired of shooting it. I still wish I had never sold my Buckmark Target.

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool S&W fan and generally prefer wheel guns.
I used to recruit for the NRA until they sold us down the river (again!) in Heller v. DC. See my auctions (if any) under username henryreilly

Tough choice, I love my Ruger MK III Hunter. Best of luck either way.

Get the 60 when you turn 60.

You can always buy an old S&W ... but for inexpensive fun ...
I suggest a comb and tissue paper ... OR ... THIS!

The scope is on quick detach mounts ... on rails, of course!

... haven't been able to find anything any better/more fun! [:D][:D][:D]

You mean like this one? 3" .38 spl. with adjustable sights.

Not sure if there is a specific need by you. If not, go for the Ruger, more fun to shoot, more practical uses, cheap ammunition.[;)]

    Go for the Ruger!!!

(Isn't it helpful that we're still offering suggestions 12 hours after he decided to go another direction entirely?)

I would've suggested something in matching his and hers .25ACP after it is your 25th. Or some 25th year anniversary run piece. But I suppose a good engraver can slap something on the slide on anything to commemorate the occasion.
