Rode a Boss Hoss once (no self"respecting" Harley-driver would ever wave back... weird), had an old MZ-250 and a nonworking Nimbus with gear-rod to the left of the gas-tank. =o)

Can't ride MC here in Greenland, they're banned/outlawed.
The only two MC's left, are allowed - as the legislation can't overrule MC's bought/registred before the legislation (like the Pre-Ban phenomenon you have..)

Would definately get a Boss Hoss again. =o) it's strong enough to carry an arsenal.

    Regards
    Peter E Jeppesen

(i always call it Hoss Boss, easier to say..)

I love my silenced .22 Anshutz rifle =o) And soon to be Steyr Scout with 10-round ext-set. ;o_

Living in Houston I don't like to get on the roadways around here too much, so now I have a Suzuki DR650 and mostly go out on the dirt and back roads, trails, etc. Still have two friends that have multiple Harley's that I can borrow whenever - so I feel I got the best of both worlds. KG

1991 Harley FXRS-Convertible. Bought it new 11 years ago, has around 75,000 miles on it today. I've ridden it all over the western USA and as far east as South Dakota. Have a lot of performance goodies on it and it runs very strong and very reliable. Just came in from a test ride not 15 minutes ago. Spent the past week putting a new drive belt on it, new Russell stainless brake discs up front, two new tires and a 34 tooth Andrews drive pulley to replace the stock 32 tooth unit. Dropped the engine RPMs a little over 200 at any given speed. Cruises a lot smoother on the highway now.

Jesus! Motorcycles banned in Greenland? How can that be? Is Greenland an iron curtain country or what? I'd be moving the hell out of there if I were you, Pete. Are you still allowed to leave?

I just sold my Ironhead, I needed the money to build a garage to go with the new house my wife always wanted. She just bought a new car for herself, and a new used car for our daughter. She told me that when they are payed for I can get another ride. Only 5yrs. to go. I hope to get an FLH the next time around.

    Thanks, Grizztribefans@sssnet.com

I drove a candy apple red 1975 Honda 750K. It was a fun machine but marriage, kids, responsibility, and it was gone. When I turn 50 in a few years I'll be buying a touring bike to get back on the roads and see some of the country. Oh yea........I'll be taking my wife.

750 Kawasaki Specter, a real nice bike with black chrome, ebony with red-wine tank and fenders...Very sharp looking. Sold it just after I go married also. Had a near death experience on a quick road trip to the UP...Wifey got afeared for me.

Will look for a full dresser after the curtain climber gets a little older. Not sure if I'll stick with rice burners and get a Aspencade or go to a Harley, leaning towards the latter right now, still got a few years to think about it!

1978 FLH (King of the Road, ) The owners manual calls is a 1978-1/2 for some reason. Last of the 1200's. Completely went through it years back, no lead valves, guides, all new guts in engine, it didn't really need it, I just wanted to un amf it for reliability reasons. It is sitting now with just saddle bags and windshield, but I have the full fairing and tour pack. It even has an insert that fits into the fairing that holds a radio,(it was am/fm 8track when I got it), and a set of guages. Put a S/S Super carb on it. Been to Sturgis many times. Colorado mountains and Minnesota also. It has never, ever made me walk, although on the way back from Minnesota we had to push start it for a day, until we got down to Souix City for parts, when a starter relay went out. It's bright red and part of the family!!

We've had this discussion before so most of you could probably see this coming. I keep having to 'splain it....Mrs. Mudge and I ride "bikes". Mine is a '95 Road King and she's got an '88 Low Rider. They are not "motorcycles". "Motorcycles" are easily identified because they're disgusting hues of purple, green, yellow or red or a tasteless combination of those colors. "Bikes" on the other hand will say "Harley-Davidson" on them in about 42 different places (some factory applied but most H-D logos will be on "aftermarket" chrome goodies). For those of you who ride "motorcycles", Chrome is that shiny stuff that is liberally bolted on to "bikes".

Hey Mudge: You ever think about changing your final drive gearing? I just changed to a 34 tooth front pulley and I can't believe the difference in the way my scoot runs on the highway. Lower RPM, smoother, better mileage and no real loss of acceleration. I shoulda done this years ago. But man, what a job to change it. First time I've ever torn off the primary drive and inner primary case. Lotsa parts in there. None left over when I finished, though. If I had it to re-think I'd just spend the extra money for the rear wheel pulley and change that instead. A lot less hassle but three times the bucks.

Just came back from a 400 mile day trip and I'm really happy with the change.

Low Rider.....sounds interesting. My only problem is....when I look in the mirror, I don't see a mechanic looking back.
(My mechanic tells me to do that every time I get the urge to turn a wrench on something tricky.) He doesn't do it for job security. He rarely charges me for labor anyway. My only reference point would be how many RPM's I'm turning in 5th gear at a particular speed. Right now, in 5th gear, my speed is 2 1/2 times what my tach indicates for RPM's. ie. when my tach reads "20" (2000 rpm) I'm doing 50 mph. At "24" I'm doing 60 and at "30" I'm doing 75. You get the picture.
How many RPM's did you knock off with the new gear? Was it worth the cost and effort. I'm also considering a 6 speed tranny if Custom Chrome can get the bugs worked out of them. They've had to recall almost all of them due to a shifter fork breakage problem.

Have any of you heard about the little get together in Beanblossom, Indiana called the "Beanblossom Boogie"? If so, are any of you going to it next month? Just curious. I thought if you were, we could set up a meeting for a cup of coffee and get to meet in Nashville, IN.
I don't go to the boogie but I do ride the outskirts of it. It's just too wild for me even though a lot of good people go to it just to see the odd and unusual.

Mudge: The pulley change dropped 220 RPMs off at any given speed. Like I said, you can accomplish the same thing by changing to a smaller rear wheel pulley. The new rear pulleys run around 400 bucks, compared to 150 for the front, but you can change the rear in about an hour by just dropping the rear wheel, unbolting the old pulley and bolting the new one on. No sweat. Changing the front is a lot more involved. I don't know how many hours a pro. Harley mechanic would have in it, but it took me a total of about 10 or 12 hours. There are also some special tools required, like an inch and seven-eighths deep socket. VERY (6 inches) deep. I had one made. I'll probably never use it again.

'96HD: I've never been to the Bean Blossom Boogie but I've seen a lot of pictures. Easyriders magazine usually does a spread on it every year. Looks like a good time.

Never been on one. Worked on a ambulance in St. Louis County in the '60's. Picked one up off the street everyday in the summer-time. Kind of got me un-interested.

I'm not trying to be a smartypants here but when you work in an ambulance don't you expect see injured and/or dead and dying people during any certain work day? ie car accidents, slip fall, motor vehicle/pedestrian, dog bites, and yes, even motorcycle accidents.

to lowrider and mudge , if you change your rear pully from a common 70 tooth to a lower tooth model (61) you will also have to change the belt as it will not properly adjust for tension . the change in front sprocket is slight enough to adjust up tension on the rear belt .however they do make an engine sprocket that will also adjust the RPM in any gear with a little less dissassembly

just thought i could help out .wrench.

I never even thought about the engine primary sprocket. Thanks for the advice. That WOULD be an easier swap. Too late now. I changed drive belts at the same time I changed the front pulley. Still used the stock 136 tooth belt but with the bigger front pulley the rear wheel is almost all the way forward. Guess I have lots of room for stretch.
