Mailwasher: A Good Thing

My ISP tech guys turned me on to Mailwasher. Wife's computer was getting about 2,000 spam mails a day. Outrageous. I was getting maybe a hundred.

We downloaded the program from www.mailwasher.com/or .net, I forget which. Try one and then the other. It's FREE, but you can pay the guy if you like it. I intend to pay him. Worth it to me.

You can preview the mail on the server. Possible spam and viruses are identified for you.

Best of all, when you bounce the mail back, it shows it returned as though it hit a bad email address.

This thing has cut our spam down tremendously.

David, I've been using something called Spam Killer for about a year & been very happy with the results, but this sounds as though it might be even better. Will give it a try & thanks for the post.

    nunn --

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to try to install it and if it turns out to run compatibly with Norton AV, Norton Firewall, and MSN Internet Access, I'll be delighted to make use of it, as I'm finding that MSN's anti-spam and missed-spam features are far from perfect.

Mailwasher allows you to flag messages as friendly and it will then always accept messages from that person.

You can also flag one as blacklisted, and never hear from that person again. It is deleted from the ISP server.

I like the preview feature. I can open and read the mail while it is still on the server. Good for suspicious messages.

It took me about four hours to get wife's many emails flagged and bounced, but now she doesn't get spam.
