Musings about Things Not Mentioned

It seems surprising that no one is mentioning the possibility that in the event of a US-led attack on Iraq, one of the very first things he may do is to destroy Israel with his alleged "weapons of mass destruction." I notice the news says he could launch weapons in 45 minutes, but no one speculates on the targets. After all, Saddam knows full well that the next attack on him will be successful; so he just might pull that Gotterdumerang stunt.

Has anyone considered that the 'ell would happen if that took place? I surely don't want Israel destroyed nor the population killed. While I support the cause of the Palestinians (statehood); I do NOT support the destruction of Israel to achieve it.

So, the question becomes one of what coudd be the price we--and our allies--are willing to pay to get this leader out of the way?

It's not what you know that gets you in trouble, it's what you know that just ain't so!

Hairy, I was under the impression that this was the reason for the development of the B-2 and f-117 stealths. I just assumed that we'd knock out his launch capability first, but hadn't pondered the question of 'what if we miss one' or 2 or 3 or 4-Ralph

Even if Saddam cannot destroy Israel he is quite likely to attack Israel. Israel will counterattack, thus allowing Saddam to turn the war into an "Arab vs Jew" war.Once this happens the devil is on the loose, as if he weren't already over there.

Iraq's ALLEGED weapons of mass destruction are a hoot compared to Israel's ACTUAL weapons of mass destruction. I think Saddam and everyone else in the Middle East knows that.

greetings, i agree with dances w/ she'p. isreal is the real sleeper here, they may not have oil but they do have nuc's and a delivery system that will rock iraq's world. i don't like isrealie policies on palestine, but i do feel that as far as nuc's go they have practiced great restraint. respt submitted dads-freehold

The easiest way out of this potential mess is to have SOF/CIA/Moussad and whoever else teams go in and snatch him and his cronies, install favorable people and disarm the country. Would be a whole lot cleaner, quicker and less stress on the world. Unfortunately, they may not have good enough intel to get it done, and we'll have another war to attend.
