GOD! YA GOTTA LOVE EM.

Got home today, and the little woman handed me a box. Kinda heavy, thought "what in the world" sat on the couch and opened it up and Low and behold a nice clean COLT 1911A1, .45 , Serial number checks out to 1944. Came with the original grips but has pearl grips on it.
WHat a beauty, YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Congrats on finding an outstanding lady and receiving such a wonderful gift! Now you know what they say about pearl grips.....

I have a lady friend who now lives back in Georgia where she is from. Her brother-in-law owns Dixie Outdoors. She raided the shelves for my b-day present. It wasn't a gun but two camo hats, a sling and a Dixie Outdoors t-shirt are a great start ain't they? Dang I need to go to Fort Benning when this recruiting stuff is over.

Gave each of my sons new chrome plated Browning High Powers (1-9mm & 1-40cal) for Christmas last year....after all the gifts were opened and we were picking up gift wrap, handed them each one more box to open...they had some puzzeled looks on their faces and ripped off the wrapping....the look on their faces was worth it all....I'm sure your wife felt the same when she saw the expression on your face.

Well let me tell ya, this gun means a lot to me,

ON two tours to Viet Nam, the colt 45 was my constant companion, in a couple little scraps we got into, it saved my bacon, So when I left Vietnam I carried "Charlie Eliminator" home with me, only to have som SOB steal it from my home..

I had often talked about missing my old sidekick, and wanting another, but Prices forbade it, being rather Frugle in my old age.

Now holding it in my hand brings back some fond, and also bitter memories, but I can live with that.

About 10 years ago my wife surprised me with a model 52 S&W 38 swc target pistol for our wedding aniversary. I had looked at it in a gun store when she was with me and I told her that I really liked it, and it was at a super closeout price, but that I just couldn't justify spending the money at that time. You could have knocked me over with a feather when she gave it to me.
