10mm Fans AMMO talk

Ok we all know that the 10mm is not the most popular cartridge there is. We also know we are going to change that. Soooooo lets see who knows the best place to buy 10mm ammo. What ammo do you use for practice and what do you use for self defence and what is a good hunting load. For all of you hand loaders what works for you? We can all use the best sources for ammo we can get. Spread the word: More and better 10mm ammo. [8D]

I shoot Federal 175 grain Hydra-shocks for defense and practice (want to make certian it will function 100%)... I can't legally use the 10mm for deer hunting in Kansas - YET! (I've got a few friends campaigning to get that changed). Ironically, I could use a .380 acp if fired from a rifle in Kansas, but I can't use the 10mm fired from a pistol - go figure!

I think the original Black Talons were the best, but I couldn't justify hanging on to them. I sold a whole ammo crate full of them, along with 20 boxes of .44 mag.

There's a new load out that shoots a lot lighter bullet, I was thinking 135 grains, at an unbelievable velocity but I haven't tried it yet.

Also spread the word - more 10mm guns! I'd love a 10mm carbine too (non-military style)!

I currently carry the Cor-Bon 135 grain load, Velocity 1400 fps, Energy 588 ft/lbs. I also have some very nice Hornady XTP 155 grain, only 1265 fps at the muzzle but still going at 1020 fps at 100 yards.

My PMC practice loads are not as hot, but they do push a 200 grain bullet to make up for it. [;)]

    Prescott Pete:

Thanks for this info. All the good sources for 10mm ammo is a good thing. Who makes the best self defence ammo?

I load 10mm a lot. There are a world of suitable bullets available mainly because of the 40 S&W. I load everything from 135 gr to 200 gr. I load a lot of 180 gr lead with 5.8 gr 231. The Colts do very well with this load. I wish Wilson would start making their 10mm Colt magazine again as it is the best I have used.
