How would you unlock a safe....

Stopped at my local gunsmiths shop today, he just ordered in a beautiful $4000 gun safe for a customer. Has an electric key pad lock, punched in the code numbers, you can hear the lock mechanism open...but the locking bolts don't move. Torch time?...or send the safe back to the manufacturer?...

I'd call the manufacturer and see if then can send someone out, shipping it back would be a pain I'd imagine.

call the safe manufacture. they will ask for some info off the safe then most likely give you a reset code to the e-lock, that will fix the problem, i saw this go down at a walmart, some kids screwed the e-lock up on a safe and the manager had a reset code he entered so i could view the safe.

side note [ by the way i dont trust those locks i read an artical online that had instructions to open them with a 9 volt battery and an ohm meter. not confirmed or tryed it just read it ]

Key pad works fine, you can hear it moving. Turning the handle works also...appears a bolt or nut came loose that connects the key pad and the handle mechanism to the outer locking bolts.

You know they are going to have one hard time if the wheel is not engaging with the bolt rail. I think they are going to have to drill, repair, weld and paint.

I was going to suggest filling it up with hot air until the door opened under pressure . . . about ten minutes of any kerry speech would do the job.

Friend of mine had a similar problem.
Called a locksmith, who (with the combo) had it open in 5 minutes.
Said it was a common problem.
Don't remember what the problem was, sorry.

Oh... about 2' of PETN 40g detonation-cord (Pentrite-explosive) should do the trick.

Or I could send you a recipe for my "Sticky Mystery Mix" [:D]

Lots of safes are built with a "relocker" that, if given enough torque on the handle; will break off and keep the bolts immobile. If it's a Cannon safe, you can give them a call and they'll check invoices and give you a location to drill.
