I used to date a sweet girl who was a Moonshiner. She used to take me into the woods, to her still, then she'd make me liquor![:0]

Yesterday I stopped by a local pawn shop to see what type of guns they had. Found a single shot Stevens 12ga for $49.95 that would suit for a good barn gun. I told the clerk I would buy the gun that day and quite possibly another one , a .22 single shot for the same price, next week. The clerk totaled the amount for the Stevens which came to $98.52..............................SAY WHAT? "Oh yes sir that is the final sale price", said the clerk who broke down the final sale price as follows: $49.95 gun price, $12.99 trigger lock which is store policy due to local zoning (BS), $15.00 background check, $25.00 transfer fee (BS), and finally $5.58 for PA 6% sales tax for a total of $98.52, "Will that be cash or charge?" "That will be no sale", I replied as I turned and walked out. What a bunch of BS, but I should have known better. I'll stick with the local established Ma & Pop gun dealers.

Sounds like a case of false advertisement to me. Plus all the add crap is bs. The only thing they are required to add is sales tax. I would have let them know how I felt and left as well. Bottom feeding pond scum.

When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....

gunpaq, I've been treated well by a few pawn shops and some I wouldn't have left a dump on their counters, most were in between. Fact is, most are sole proprieterships just as the local gun shops are . . . and most reflect the personality / character of the owner(s) in the same way. Now you know one to avoid. Incidentally, your reply was far more restrained than mine would have been (perhaps you edited it to meet 'local zoning standards' ?).

Car dealers do it all the time...."here's the base price, now after we add dealer prep, paint protectant, rustproofing, tax & license, floor mats, a pine tree air freshner, and a spare tire your total is..."

I have on occasion stopped by this pawn shop just to see what they had and never bought anything there. They just happened to have an old gun that fit my need this time but they really did not want my business. This place sells to very few "sport" or "licensed concealed carry" shooters and their regular customers, I suppose, are not concerned with the add-on costs. I had to be in the third world city of Reading, PA that day and the location itself should explain the store's policy.

SOME PAWN SHOPS GIVE USED CAR SALESPEOPLE A BAD NAME - HAHA

LIST THE PAWN SHOPS PHONE# SO THAT WE CAN CALL THEM ABOUT THEIR BARGINS OR EVEN BETTER GO BY AND PAY THEM AS VISIT

JUST THINK APX 12-15 PEOPLE CALLING ABOUT THE SHOT GUN, & SAYING YOU GOT A DEAL THEN THEY HIT YOU WITH THEIR ADD-ON, THEN TELL THEM "YOUR OUT OF YOUR MIND IF IAM PAYING FOR YOU ADD-ONS". THEN MAYBE THEY WILL CATCH ON.
