I just purchased a rifle for a rather large sum of money. Since I have been stiffed by on e-bay, I'm a bit reluctant to shell out this kind of money to a total stranger. Is there any other way than sending him a check/money order?
Please let me know soon
Thanks
Peter

You can probably send him a checkbut he will hold it until it clears the bank befoe he will send your firearm. It all comes out the same its a matter of trust. Most people in this business are honest?

Some credit cards reimburse you for a fraudulent transaction....might be worth checking into.

Call the post office. They claim their money orders are special because they come with tracing and possibly reimbursement. I'm not sure of the details but it's worth a call. Personally, I have had good luck with PayPal, and it's free for buyers. They update their policies and insurance programs so you might see if this guy's on PayPal and if so, what they are offering in the way of protection right now. The only other option on eBay is "escrow," which a lot of sellers don't go for.

You can verify an 01 FFL by going to www.atf.treas.gov
Find Ezi Check and enter the license holder's first three and
last five digits of his no. At least this will confirm address
and validity. Ask for references. When I ship a modern arm to
another 01, I always check the license. I did have one come up
expired. It is rather strange, I never sell inexpensive arms and I encourage people to ask for references and use the Ezi Check. Never has a person asked for references. 101

I always use a United States Postal Money Order, for the reason that if he trys to screw you out of the gun, you can get him for mail fraud, which is a Federal Offense.
But that won't cover you from getting something that wasn't described properly.
Another route you can go is to pay him with a credit card. A lot of credit card companies have fraud protection. Best thing to do is call the CC company and ask them before you use it.
And one more way is to see if he won't ship it COD, that way you can inspect it before paying for it.

Thanks fellows. I should have a bit more faith in my fellow man, but the likes of Sarrah Brady took it out of me. I'll check those other suggestions out.
    Thanks

    Guys!,
DO NOT COUNT ON THE POSTAL SERVICE TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK IF THERE IS FRAUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They will do absolutely NOTHING to help you!!!!!!

This "you'll be protected if you use a USPS money order" is NOT TRUE!!!!

Trust me on this! I had to go hunt down a guy myself, because they wouldn't do ANYTHING! (I got my money back! Hehehehe.....)

Anyway, again, DO NOT COUNT ON THE POSTAL SERVICE! THEY DON'T CARE!!!!

NO! You may not have my guns! Now go crawl back into your hole!

Have you sudgested paypal. That is what I use for ebay. If some one does not ship or takes to long to ship I have my credit card company issue a chargeback and it has worked everytime.
