Perhaps you can find a vet who will come to your house to take care of things.
We did that two years ago for our dear Cookie, vet came to our house, it was a lot better than being in a vet clinic.
I am way out in the woods in NC yet the vet drove 20 miles.
Had to put my pal Rufus down about 6 months ago. I inherited him from my Older brother who pass in 2009. I was with my brother when he picked up Rufus and have never seen a dog quite like him for personality.
After brother Bob passed Rufus would not come out from under Bobs trailer. After three days I went under and we looked at each other as I said come Rufus it is time to come out. He simply followed me back out and we sat together for a few hours with his head on my lap.
His age finaly caught up with him and he had a lot of pain and also had bowl and bladder control. He could hardly stand. I miss him still but he is in a better place.
So sorry for what will become a painful loss for you, but will be a painless passing for him.
You're among friends here Ken, many of us have been down the road you're traveling today. Please feel free to reach out when you need to. You're not alone in this journey.

We may at times disagree and argue, but seem to come together when another Member is in need.
That makes this place special.
I greatly appreciate all of your thoughts, input, prayers and the solace that has been offered.
This is a special group, and was why I finally joined after lurking for 10-12 years. I wanted to be a part of it.
I thank you all, very much.

I will be driving Buddy in to the Vets office as soon as he opens this am.
Its time, and it is the right thing to do.
Thank you to all for the thoughts and prayers. (Buddy thanks you also.)
