Boar Hunting - .308 or SKS

What kind of gun should i use for boar hunting? I was thinking about a remington 7400 chambered in .308 winchester, or an SKS chambered in 7.62x39. Also, on the issue of a sidearm, i was thinking about a taurus raging bull chambered in .44 magnum or .454 cassul. What should i do? Thanks!

Many a Boar have been taken with a 44mag. The 308 Russian will do a very good job on Boar. The 308 NATO is a little over kill in my book but it will put one down. Just my 2 cents

Ill be hunting them in my home state of the peoples republic of california. Ive heard theres a surplus of em. does anyone know the limit?

SKS will do fine.Just put the bullet where it needs to go.

the 7.62x39 is enough. i took a small one 60lbs awhile back no problem. shot it through the throat. it basically the same a a 30-30 if that helps. nice thing is you can pump a few more in really quick if you need to. have fun.

Thanks, looks like ill be getting an SKS. If worst comes to worse, I can always affix my bayonet (LOL)!!!
