I used to be a welder untill the eye Dr told me to give it up (proublum not because of the welding). Now I do home remodleing and like to do restoratin on old homes. You never know what you will find in them.
Would like to build a copy of a Frank loyed Wright home sometime.

I have the wonderful talent of completely screwing up any do it yourself project you can think of beyond mowing the grass . So, I call you guys , and sit back in awe of your skills wishing I didn't have two left thumbs.

We only have a few special years with our children in which they desire our time, attention, and love. After that time is over, it is gone forever, and we will be the ones that desire their time, attention, and love. Make those few, short years count -

I was a tool-die maker for 40+ years. I retired 2 years ago. I worked for some big cop. and some small job shops. The best job I had was working for the Gov., in the 60's and 70's. Building a lot of nasty stuff. M-79, bee-hive, retarded bomb, maple leaf clusters, etc.

...Mrs Rembrandt and I began the "This Old House" restoration on our home 4 years ago...don't believe it when you see those Home Improvement shows that get everything done in half an hour. So far I've been a a framer, sheetrocker, roofer, ceramic tile layer, painter, carpenter, electrician, plumber, interior decorator,.....and still have 3 more rooms to go......

Project manager / Estimator for Remodeling contractor in Portland.
Favorite part is once a year "Tour of Remodeled Homes". All the headaches have been solved, the project is complete and the client has 250 ticket holders per day walking through their home, telling them what a great job we did. It makes it all worth every penny they spent. (hehehe)

I'm a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. I refuse to weld for money for the very reason you mentioned TOOLS.

Frank Wright had some spectacular designs. My Grandfather lived across the street from a FLR designed house in Grand Rapids Michigan. It stood out like a sore thumb next to the cookie-cutter houses next door.

I also had the fortune of visiting the only FLR designed service station in Cloquet Minnesota when I worked at Potlatch paper mill two years ago. It was unique to say the least. Ya gotta love FLR, and the way he inspired architecture.

Burned out painting contractor..went to work for a gunshop on thursdays, fridays, and all gunshows. Now I only schedule small paint jobs for 3 days a week, they seem to pay better anyway.

Of course if my wealthy friend Rembrandt could get up off of some of that scratch,it might be worth the trip to Iowa,to help finish his house.:)

When I was a young married man I was for a while a screw machine apprentice but now I'm a writer -- technical, marketing, web site, videogame, script, you name it, I've done it. I have worked with a lot of machine shops and manufacturers, but not with construction firms per se, except a design and build company in Defiance Ohio whom I gave some web site help. I do have a nice portfolio of marketing work including trade ads, brochures and press releases for industrial firms, much of it full color ad agency stuff.

Independent roofing contractor, I specailize in copper standing seam, flat seam, batten seam, and horizontal seam roofs. All custom, "hand-made" work. I also do chimney flashings and ornate copper light fixtures. I also do slate work, new construction, and repairs, and unfortunatly most other types of roofs.
