Hard primers

What is a good primer to use in shells intended for use in semi auto rifles? As much as I want a full auto, slam fires are not what I want.

I use Winchester in my .223 loads for the AR.

I generally find CCI primers to be a little harder than Winchester or Federal.

Nobody makes a primer hard enough for your concern!!! Just seat the primers properly and you will have NO slam-fires. Seat them out to far - look out!!.

I agree with shootist. I prefer Winchester or Federal over CCI as they tend to seat easier. I haven't used CCI's for quite a few years but they used to seem a little out of round, but it probably was my imagination as they were a little harder.

If you don't care where you are going, you can't get lost.

I use the cci mil-spec primers #34 in the old mausers to help prevent perforations from over long firing pins and have good results with them.
