A Marine veteran taking a lunch break in Houston on Thursday fatally shot one of two suspects police say were robbing a video game store at a popular shopping center, MyFoxHouston.com reports.

The veteran, who was identified as a 28-year-old male, was eating lunch at a Quiznos when police say he saw two suspects get out of a car with bandanas over their faces. One reportedly made it out of the store with a handful of games.

The veteran, who has a concealed handgun license, went to his pickup truck, got his pistol and told bystanders to call 911, the Houston Chronicle reports. One suspect was still inside the store at the time, trying to get money from customers, the report said. When they exited, one suspect raised his gun at the veteran, who was taking cover behind his truck, and the two reportedly exchanged fire.

Police said 10 shots were exchanged, one fatally striking one of the suspects. The other suspect dropped the video games and made a run for it, the report said. He was later caught at a fast food restaurant

    ,,,,'what difference does it make,,,,,,,'

    Oh, wait,,,,,I'm confused !!!!! [:D][:o)]

When seconds count, the cops are only minutes away.

And when you need your gun in your hand, you only need to go to your truck first.

Conceal carry does not make you a policeman[V]
he should have gotten a license plate number and called it in.
popular shopping center = cops very close.

Wonder what his explanation was for shooting the bad guy? Self defense?

The suspect raised his gun at the veteran. What was the veteran supposed to do, call the cops and wait?

    Oh, that's right....[V][B)]

There's a strong possibility that the vet saved lives, but no, God forbid he'd get just a bit of praise for doing what he did. No, let's pick his accuracy with the handgun apart instead.

and could have just as easily cost some....story says they had left the store.....they could have just as easily gone back and taken hostages....scenarios are endless...but if there had been a dog in the store all bets are off

    Coulda, shoulda, woulda.

Here's a thought...it ended well, did it not? He dropped some bleenup, lived to tell about it, and so did everyone else in the area.

Why pick apart what could have happened, when you can sit back, and be thankful of what did happen?

It said he grabbed his gun and took cover behind his truck and fired when they raised their guns at him. Not sure what made them do that but it sounds like a George Zimmerman shoot to me. By that, I mean that he probably could have avoided the situation and just been ready to defend himself. Right or wrong, thinking back, he probably could have handled it better. However, the outcome was satisfactory.

I like it when a good guy comes to the rescue. Bet the thugs never expected that. They should have known that possibly getting shot is one of the drawbacks to robbing folks. Very remote, granted, but a possibility just the same.

Liberals to the defence! The dead guy is a bad guy, he had a gun. and used it against civilians.
I'm personally proud of this man, he did what needed to be done

But the armed robber was such a nice boy...

Notice how the media has to add a label to justify someone's defensive actions.

    "Marine Vet"

They wouldn't dare say armed citizen or joe average guy.
They have to make some connection to law enforcement.

It's called HITTING THE TARGET not blasting a dozen rounds in the general area of the target.
