Sound like a good idea? I have 10 of those blemished lowers coming and have been tossing around the idea of registering one of them as an SBR and adding a suppresor.

To avoid registration can a threaded suppressor be used for the length?

Just an idea

You can avoid the SBR registration if you permanently attach a suppressor (or flash hider) for a total length that meets the rifle barrel length requirement. That's how folks do it with AR's that have a 14 1/2" barrel. But, you probably don't want to do that, as it makes disassembly for cleaning the suppressor difficult.....

yes as stated it has to be pinned and welded

depends on the manufacturer of the suppressor how difficult to impossible to disassemble for maintenance , and keep in mind also the suppressor will become dedicated to that firearm only

there is a company that has designed one just for that purpose, ill try to find it and post it

let us know what you come up with
it has to be permanent attached to the barrel ( as in pinned welded ) to meet the 16" rule

my youngest son has a Daniel defense sbr ( registered as such with a suppressor in 5.56 ) fun to shoot
    I am putting together a 300 black out "pistol " with a 10" barrel
but am having second thoughts after I add the muzzle brake its only a couple inches shorted then my 16" version . not sure if its worth the effort , I also had bought a sig brace before all the good bad bouncing from the batf so I will leave it off just to be safe .
I am still deciding to just scrap the idea and just go with a normal 16" carbine version . with the recoil tube on a normal AR its still not a compact package , may just get a 7.62 "ak pistol" what ever they call them and be done

How much did you get your lowers for?

I think Lonnie ordered them last week when PSA had stripped lower 'blems' for $49.99 each.

I have several, and have yet to find what the 'blem' was.

You can avoid the SBR if you just do a pistol!! [:D] I love this .300 blk pistol, I shoot it with the Thordsen against my cheek and it is surprisingly easy and accurate.

Yeah would be better IMO to do an SBR and suppressor form, buy a multi cal suppressor like the Griffin Optimus...an extra $200 is cheaper than having to buy a second suppressor if you want to use it on other weapons.

I'd like a Griffin Optimus....just not willing to pay that $200 BS.

Did a gang banger put those iron sites on???? I have never seen them off to the side like that??? Seriously?? Why?? It looks like you have a see through scope mount. By the way, F'in awesome rifle !!!!!!![;)][^][:p][:p][:p] That is one AR I would love to own or build. You did a beautiful job. The nicest one I ever seen[;)] Oak

PS, Donna says she likes the scarecrows[:X][:I] Women. I show her the rifle and she likes the scarecrows.

PISTOL..not rifle [;)] Secondly those are 45 degree off set mounts because the Red Dot I am using doesn't co-witness with the lower Troy battlesights and isn't set up with a QD. With the Thordsen cheek rest the pistol rolls 45 degrees easily to use the BUIS. Being off set doesn't effect anything, they zeroed easily.

The upper is MAS Dense Aero Precision upper 8.5" with 10" keymod and KAK flash can. The lower is PSA ($49.99 blem) with a Geissele SD 3G trigger, KAK ext pistol buffer and Thordsen custom cheek rest.

Seriously though, I've wanted an SBR for a long time, but after shooting this, I will never spend the $200 to ask permission. Plus this a pistol, so concealed carry in a vehicle.

I am sure my wife will appreciate the compliment!

Another option is to choose a can that uses a muzzle mount/brake that will extend a 14.5(14.7)" barrel length to the legal 16". Have the mount properly affixed and you've gained 1.5" of length with the can mounted.
Way cheaper and more flexible than other options.
I'm all about options and having a $1000 suppressor permanently affixed to a single firearm just doesn't fly with me.
