Whats a good price on this.

I was going thru my local trading post paper and noticed a G22 with 2 mags for sale. It seems to be really cheap($250). Is this a good price or what. Deals thru the trading post are private deals and I am a little concerned that the gun may be stolen. The guy who is selling it seems to be a very kind honest guy. IS this price to good to be true? Is there a way to check a gun to see if it is stolen before I buy it?

When you get there, it will be gone.

Every time I spot a good deal in the paper, someone beats me to it.

If it is a Glock 22 and it is $250, a little alarm should go off in your head, and it sounds as though it did. It could be stolen, or the seller could simply not know its worth.

More often than not, guns in the paper go for more than they are worth in a store, because there are those out there who will pay a premium for an "unpapered" gun.

To check the serial number for stolen, you just about have to have a friendly police officer run it for you.

On a deal like that, I do the research after I get there. It's easier to be first in line, and walk away from a deal that smells, than stop and think it over and miss the chance altogether.

If it sounds too good to be true then 9 times out of 10 there is something fishy. Be glad it was gone. If you know any law enforcement guys you can have them run the serial # next time you think it may be too good to be true.

I am a little steamed about it. It seemed to be the only deal in the entire paper.

Don't be steamed. Even if it wasn't a stolen gun, it probably had something else wrong with it. Even if you don't know what something is worth, you would probably go find out. That's what I do before I sell anything. You never know. I probably have a small fortune in my closet, if only I could find people to buy all that stuff...
