Just got my order of Blue Wonder, Touched up my Colt Detective Special, and it does a bang up job.

Am going to do a complete shotgun from the ground up this weekend and will post the results.

Well I'm now an official Blue Wonder Gun Care Products dealer. My prices even beat the big on-line sellers like Midway and Brownell's.

Just finished re-doing a 1903 Springfield, for a guy at the local VFW.

Let me tell ya, Blue Wonder, is a wonder, The gun looks as good as it did when it was made.

So for you guys that havent tried it, dont be afraid, it is darn near foolproof, No streaking of bare spots that you get with the other stuff on the market.

was cleaning my 50 bp today first time with blue wonder I use brass cleaning rods and I noticed how the blue wonder cleaned the rods don't think any other gun cleaner I have used has ever done that. My cleaning rods look like new can't see all the way down my barrel but what I could see with a light really cleaned the barrel good

I have my Dads old Remington model 58 I'm going to restore to like new condition maybe even add a few things If I can figure out how.

Im debating a do it yourself Bluing or professional hot blue, the stock I can do myself.

Is this stuff really all its cracked up to be? How good and how fast will it clean the bore of a rifled slug barrel? For example Ive got a mossberg 835 barrel thats rifled and I havent been able to get it clean since I bought it new. I even attached my cleaning rod to my drill and went at it for an hour and I can still see stuff in the rifeling. It was packed in this grease stuff and its pretty tough. Ive had quicker results cleaning cosmo out of surplus rifles. Is blue wonder what I need?

    Thanks

I'm finally convinced I should try this stuff. I've got a couple of old shooters that won't ever be worth much and rebluing won't hurt their value. However, I haven't been able to find anyone locally who knows about Blue Wonder. Do you have a link to where I can purchase this product? Thanks.......

Blue wonder is actually a hot blue, but all you need is a good hair dryer to supply the heat, or a small propane tourch.

you can find it here, dont let the URL name get ya, it there.

And by the way, a local smith here wanted 130.00 to do the 1903, and the guy brought it to me and I did it for 65.00, only took a couple of hours.

So my first job more than paid for the product.. LR

Wow! Nice pics! You obviously followed the directions (Ha!) and look what happened... We tried to make it easy to use and different than other "Cold" blues, which are oxidation type processes. Ours is a Bonding process which gives a durable finish that is as close to factory blue as you can get. Thanks for posting the info and the pics... KG

Can you use it over existing bluing or does the gun need to be stripped? I have a couple guns that need touching up.
  • kgnovumkgnovum Member Posts: 594 ✭✭✭✭
    edited November -1
lazywallrus - you can use it for touchups! It will not affect or harm the existing bluing so you just apply it to the area that needs bluing and it will blend right in. Be sure to follow the directions closely and check the website for the latest advice, directions, tips & techniques. You add coats of bluing until it matches the surrounding bluing and the finish it with our develeoper solution - then gun oil the next day.

firingpin - I recognize your name from our dealer list! I did not know you had an online store - nor that you were a member here! That's great. I will remember that and advise folks that ask.

Thats whats great about this product you touch up or do the whole thing. For touch up you use fine steel wool and the gun scrubber.
If you want to do the whole gun down to bare metal you use a pad.
  • kgnovumkgnovum Member Posts: 594 ✭✭✭✭
    edited November -1
firingpin - you are right for touchups - but use "0000" steel wool and Blue Wonder Gun Cleaner (not Gun Scrubber which is another product. If you use it you will have problems as it is petroleum based. I think you meant gun "cleaner"). Just clean the area, heat it and apply the bluing until it matches - then oil it the next day. KG

If you can't find the products locally, Midway carries them. But if it is as good as robsguns / Classic say (& I have *no* reason not to), I would suggest those who are happy with it discuss the subject w/ their local shops. Most chemical products for firearms arrive on the market with more hype than performance. I'm looking forward to trying the bore cleaner . . . if it performs as advertised, my first stop will be my three local dealers with a suggestion they investigate it.

I gotta tell you something else too. I have to confess my most useful purpose for the Blue Wonder Gun Cleaner, I've discovered other than what is advertised, is for cleaning my casting molds, works slicker than greased owl doo doo. I havent tryed it in the bore of any guns yet, but I havent run into anything my Butch's Bore Shine cant handle yet either. For those of you that cast bullets, this really cleans them up good, before or after use.

robsguns - After you've cleaned a bore with Butch's Bore Shine, start with a clean brush and run Blue Wonder Gun Cleaner through it. See what comes out. KG

from what it says its: surfactants, ammonia, potassium, penetrating agents and other ingredients.
Isnt it funny how they always make you feel stupid for reading the ingredients? Other Ingredients? I guess thats the secret stuff that works so well, I like that stuff, probably radioactive isotopes, he, he, sorry Ken, had to go there.

Ryan, you can get burned if you don`t reat them.
For example:Look at the igredients on the can
    of Ronsonol(about $5.00 per several O.Z.s) lighter fluid:NAPTHA

    Naptha-Price per GALLON:$6.95

The ingredients listed on the tube are correct and the "other" is as you said - secret. Nothing harmful though. We have MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) on all products as required by the Gov. A big part of it working well is the penetrating agents. The ammonia is only 0.75% and the PH is 8 - so it won't harm your guns. High ammonia based cleaners can "etch" metal if left in contact too long. They also can eat up brass brushes. Ours will do neither. If you check our website there is some info on "How it Works". You can get straight to it at http://www.novumsolutions.com/BlueWonderGunCleaner.html

    Hope this helps. KG

firingpin - I checked out your site. Nice - and you DO have good prices and low S&H charges to boot!!! We have you listed on our website now as a Blue Wonder online store. I didn't know you were in Oklahoma. I get up there pretty often. Are you anywhere near Tulsa? Which is where I go...

Ryan - The president of the company (yours truly) is from Planet Texas! The only state that retains the right to secede from this great nation. I guess even way back then they were afraid of the liberals maybe taking over someday.
