Non Approvals - strange happenings

As you know I have a friend who owns a pawnshop. He sells quite a few guns and lately he has been seeing more and more non-approvals or conditionals on the call in's for background checks.
Some of the folks getting these NA's are folks who have CCW's and in 1 case the guy had an FFL and a CCW not a CR FFL either.
After the initial call in if we get another gun sale or pawn pickup when we do the call we ask about the first call for the folks who were NA'd, in most case they recheck and give us an approval.
Are the people just not doing their job when performing the checks or what.
Its weird, anybody seen this occur as it is happenning more and more often lately. Almost everyone who gets a NA are either approved later that day (if we ask them to re-check) or are approved on appeal. Just seems strange to me.

It happened to a friend of mine. He was approved for a purchase, then a week later he was declined on the next purchase. The appeal process started at the end of May and he still doesn't have the gun(already paid for).

You can run, but you'll just die tired.

why run a back ground check on someone with a ccw and an ffl? seems very redundant to me. and why would an ffl be buying from a pawnshop. must have been a collector peice

quote:why run a back ground check on someone with a ccw and an ffl? seems very redundant to me.

Law here in Florida states that all purchaser's of a firearm go through the NICS check. The FFL holder was buying a gun for his personal ownership and didnt want it on his store records.

Dont know what the laws are in your state but like I said here in Florida everybody get checked unless you are dealer buying for your shop. Personal transfers between individuals are exempt, at least in my county.

Redundant or not thats the way it is, I dont make the laws I just follow them.

In Oklahoma the law says you cannot carry if there is a felony on your records. People from other states get turned down when they apply with misdemeaners on their records because by Oklahoma laws, the defination of a felony is a crime that could bring 1 year or more. People from other states convicted of a misdemeaner that has a sentence of more than a year by Oklahoma standards cannot get a concealed carry permit as they have been convicted of a felony, at least by Oklahoma standards. They do not have class 1, 2 or 3 misdemeaners in Oklahoma, just felony and misdemeaner.

The FBI took over the vetting of applications from the previous contractor a while back. I started getting instant approvals for the first time then. Lately they are sometimes instant, sometimes delayed. Don't know why, but over all I am better off getting instant approvals sometimes rather than always getting a delay like before.

Ive been seeing a huge increase of point-of-contact warrents. Here in Oregon, our state police do the backgrounds and will serve bench warrents while people are waiting for the "instant" background. I just dealt with one this morning. Guys wants to purchase a rifle, im calling it in and City Police show up. They arrest him, take him outside, serve his warrent (traffic ticket)and OSP finally takes me off hold and procedes him. I wouldnt mind as much, but these people are PAYING to have this done. Needless to say the guy was imbaressed and the whole process left a bad taste in his mouth. I wasn't very happy about being on hold for 15 minutes while this was going down. I'll almost trade ya for a plain simple denial.
