What type of mount was used on the M14 Rifle that the one guy had in blackhawk down that he mounted that Aimpoint scope with?

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

I'm not sure. It was some kind of forward mount.

I do know that Springfield Armory offers a forward mount for their Scout and Standard model series of M1A for about $130-ish.

It wasnt an M14, per se. It was an M-24 sniper rifle. Army snipers use them almost exclusively.

Not M24, Army uses M21, the M24 is a bolt rifle. I looked in Field Manual TC 23-14 (Sniper Training And Employment).

But I reviewed the movie, and like I previously suspected he had what appeared to be an Aimpoint scope mounted on it, not any of the issue scopes that appear in the field manual.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

Tazmutt, it is common on eBay to list magazines as 10-round because of eBay rules forbidding the listing of magazines with more than 10 rounds of capacity, but then to picture a magazine with an obvious capacity of more than 10 rounds.

The magazines you mention sound like USA magazines, which will likely disappoint you. Buy genuine GI at $30 to $50 and you will be pleased.

    Arggggghhhh! *beats head on wall*

Of course, you're entirely right. My bad. But you think it's tough to distinguish the M21 from the M24? Try distinguishing the M24 from the M70.

Wow, you have to love modern technology. I did some freeze frame and zoom in with my DVD player, and come to find out that its not mounted with a factory mount at all. It has what apears to be actually two weavermounts like what you find on a bolt rifle attached to the reciever at the front and at the rear between the sight and stripper clip charger. The front one is what the aimpoint compact scope is attached to via a single ring, and the rear one's empty.

I sure would like to have an aimpoint scope mounted to my rifle, but I darn sure don't think I want to drill holes in my reciever yet...

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

    Ugh. Drilling hole in receiver...shudder.

BTW, the Springfield forward scope mount only works on the Standard barrels. Too small for the match grade fellers.

Wait, I did a little more freeze fame zoom in tech, and some research, and have come to the conclusion that its an A.R.M.S. mount, not drilled and tapped.

Like ATF I shudder at thinking of drilling holes in my reciever, but I'm 99.9% sure that its an ARMS mount. Fulton Armory's website has closeups of the ARMS mount, and it looks identical, at least as close as I can get to zoom on my DVD player.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

Now I have to start saving money, cause I'm gonna have to buy an ARM's mount $174.99 ouch!!!, and an Aimpoint ML scope and ring $MORE ouch!!!....

I wonder if there'd be anyway to mount a compact NV decvice in line with the aimpoint on the back weaver rail... hmmmm...

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

It would be a good idea for you to save up some actual money. Especially if your going to bid on it at auction (for those who have never had this guy bid on your auctions, he/she is a treat).Check out the feedback!
