Check the new box for race "mixed"

A friend and I were talking about the politically correct garbage the politicians have got us saddled up with. We talked about the hyphenated citizens of our great nation. You kmow, Afro-American and bla bla bla. He said that on anything he has to check regarding race he just writes in the word "mixed". He said he's American. He said I don't know what or who my ancestors had sex with. I agreed. I look white for all intent and purpose but I do know there's Cherokee in my family with some German and Irish on both sides of the family tree. I may have some black, yellow, or olive. I don't know for sure. I thought I'd use his trick just to tork some bureaucrats throttle next time I face that little box that needs checked. What do you think?

I check the native american box.

I was born here; that makes me a NATIVE AMERICAN by definition.

My mother always told me that if you were a full blooded American per say; you would be an Indian. I guess its true if you think about it.

Well rug, I'm told that the Indians came from Asia. So now who's the Native American?

Could be we have discovered the biggest problem in the country, the Govt. trying to divide us into bite size pieces. As long as we fight among ourselves we won't have time for them.

Why do they ask the question?

    Rugster -

I would think that Smoky is referring to the fact that even the Amerinds (American Indians) didn't just suddenly appear (Evolve? Choose whatever word you like) here. They had to come from somewhere else, albeit perhaps tens of thousands of years ago. Current theory says they came across the Bering Straits some time ages ago.

Another way to say it is that, hey, their ancestors just got here before mine did!

How about we write in Duncan Hines, or Betty Crocker? Didnt someone coin the phrase of 'The Great Mixing Bowl' a long, long time ago? I think I'll stick with 'Mutt'.

Amerindians whose ancesters have been here over several thousands of years would take the same offense at being called Asians as most of y'all would to being called Europeans

It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it...
