Going to buy 20 O/U for clays, either new or exellent used cond., only for fun not competition. Is 686 Onyx or Whitewing good choice?
Is 20 Ga. enough or 12 Ga a must? Thanks

When shooting trap back in Kentucky every friday night, I found the 20 guage to be a bit weak, 30 inch full choke 12 gauge, Browning BT99 was the best trap gun I ever owned ,

My favorite O/U is the Browning Superlight. I have one in 12ga with 26" barrels. The matching 20ga is on my list of future purchases.

You didn't say what kind of clays you were going to shoot. Straight trap: 12 ga. single barrel (30"-34"), high post rib, ported with recoil reducers. 12 ga. ammo is generally cheaper, recoil is a factor of shot weight and powder load, and all things being equal the kick is the same between 12 and 20.

I am partial to Brownings, but also use a Perazzi.

Sporting Clays: Shorter barrels than the trap guns(28"-30"), o/u's are most popular, but semis work well also.
I use Browning 425 Golden Clays for this type of shooting. Again ported, recoil reducers (after 100 rounds you will see the need).

Skeet: Shorter barrels, open chokes. A gun that swings and points well.

If this question was asked to me several years ago, I would have said definitely Citori. After stepping up to a Perazzi it would be hard to go back, even though Citori is an excellent O/U all gauges.

I have a Browning superposed lightening 26" o/u. Can't beat it for a fun gun. I do sporting clays, skeet, and lot of upland birds. Love it.
