What Kind Of An Idiot?

What kind of idiot would give their child a handgun to play with? Well, I found out last evening. Went to look at a lawnmower that was for sale and noticed kids playing army in the next yard with a real looking gun. Went over with the neighbor selling the lawnmower and took away a Jennings from an 8 yearold, fortunately it was unloaded. The neighbor and I had a little chat with the mother who said she thought it was just a toy gun left in her exhusband's things and gave it to her boys to play with. With her permission we removed shotgun, rifle, & pistol ammo from her ex's things as well as an 870 Remington which she gave to the neighbor as well as the Jennings. The neighbor knows the ex's family & called them to come pick up the 870 but the Jennings met it's fate in the neighbor's shop vice. The neighbor said the family was going through a divorce and the scornfull idiot wife (I agree with his opinion)has had several yard sales to get rid of her ex's personal property. The idiot mother's attitude towards giving her boys a gun to play with was if anything happened it would have been her ex's fault since it was his gun and should have told her it was real. By the time we got back to the lawnmower it was pouring rain and I bought it for 1/2 the asking price. The neighbor was pretty upset as he had seen those boys playing army with that gun (not knowing anything about guns or that it was real) for several weeks. This was a tragedy waiting to happen. You have to be approved by the government to purhase, own, and carry a gun but to be a parent or to produce a child there are absolutely no governmental approvals to go through to insure responsibility. This idiot mother is a middle class and college educated to boot.

Hence one of the reason I think they should teach firearm safety in middle school (probably about 7th grade) cause then the mother would have known that it was a real firearm and never given it to her kids to play with.

This B**CH probably had a restraining order issued on the ex so he couldn't pick up the firearms or anything else of his from his former residence, which she then proceeded to "fire sale." Sure gotta love how the laws are slanted. Great that no one was hurt. Wonder how it would have gone if there had been a 911 call and a LEO arrived to find a kid brandishing a real firearm - another possible tragedy. Stupid is too mild a term . . . the woman shouldn't have been allowed to breed.

Ok, you're going to get ticked at me for this, but I gotta say it, again. From all the words I've heard on the Jennnings brand handguns, I'd say that it was being used exactly as it was meant to be, as an unfiring toy. If I lived in the country, with no prying eyes to condemn me for it, and I had a Jennings, with no ammo to be had for it, I'd probably let my kid go outside and play with it, just to see if he could either, A) Learn to carry it responsibly and not tear it up, or B) Hopefully he would make quick work of it, and destroy the piece of crap. Told ya, I just had to say it.

Hey, we gotta have a license to drive, a license to marry, a license (in many states) to carry a weapon, some of us gotta have a license to work.....so how about a license to REPRODUCE? No children allowed until the hopeful couple completes a series of mandated tests, including but not limited to Common Sense, Genetic or Environmental Tendency of Progeny To Develop Latent Idiotic or Criminal Tendencies, and Probability of Progeny to Support Him/Herself Without Assistance for Majority of Adulthood Without Reliance on Assistance From Family or Federal Sustenance.

From what I've seen, the idiots are outbreeding us by about 10 to 1. We better get busy before we disappear.

A pot metal toy gun from Wal Mart probably would last longer than the Jennings in that kid's hands.
That woman is about as stupid as they come. Is she blond by any chance?
    Austin I agree.

No Doubt about it!~ It IS the Ex Husband's Fault! (Now we've got the blame placed, the problem is solved!). You must know beyond a shadow of doubt, She heard him say: "These ARE MY Toys!"

Went back to pick up the mower today now that rains have stopped and yes Iconoclast & Badboybob she is blonde and she does have a PFA out against her husband. The PFA is unfounded according to the local police officer who was taking a statement from the neighbor and others when I arrived. The exhusband's family picked up his 870 early this morning and the officer took the pancaked Jennings along with him for evidence. The LEO belongs to the same gun club as the exhusband's father and personally knows the situation. The exhusband is having his attorney seek physical custody of his boys. What a mess and what a crazy numbskull woman. The police officer said the kids were lucky, a real gun may have worked. A lot of the surrounding neighbors were there also and all supporting the side of the two boys and the exhusband. Just an update.

College educated and can't tell when a firearm is the real thing? That's got to be one of the strangest things I've ever heard of. Just what is passing for education now days? Even an idiot would check before giving a child anything that looked like a firearm to play with. The sad part of it all is that it's folks like this that cause liberals to scream that there should be gun control when what we really need is something that seems to be lacking today: COMMON SENSE!

Rob G - college educations do not equate to intelligence, as certain graduates of Yale proved between 1992 & 2000. Some of the sharpest people I've known never went past HS and some of the biggest doofuses had advanced degrees. It isn't the book learning (such as it is these days), but the use to which it is put . . . sound like another subject near & dear to all our hearts?!

Sounds like this fine lady had an IQ equal to her shoe size. If she had any sense at all she'd have taken that little junkings to NY and got 50 bucks for it. Next time you see her tell ole 96harley's got some ocean front property in Nevada, CHEAP.

When I was eight years old I knew the difference between a toy and the real thing and we had no guns in the house. I believe this kid knew what he had in his hand.
