I almost got it a fight today...

There is a guy in my appartment complex, who is a thug. He doesn't even live here, he just at the apartment where his girlfriend is. Everyone in the complex knows he sell drugs, cars drive by at all hours of the night, he spends about 30 seconds at the window of the car, and then the car drives off. I'd say at least 5 cars a night drive by before I go to sleep. Well I keep the appartment manager up to check on his activities. She's trying to get the girlfriend evicted, cause no one wants to pay $465 for an apartment where a thug lives near them.

Well as I was walking up the stars to go to my apartment, I hear someone yell, "Don't you be lookin over here, this aint non yo business fool..." So I look over there (I'm armed) and say "Excuse me?" And he replies "You heard me b*tch..." So I, in a friendly tone, yell back. "Look, I'll look anywhere I d*mn well please, and there isn't a f*cking thing you or anyone's gonna do about that..."
I then stood there and looked at him for about a minute longer just to get my point across. I then got a chair and spent about the next 15 minutes on my balcany, looking at him.

I know that I may possibly be antagonizing him, but I won't put up with a thug. And I refuse to live in fear. I will look where I want, and go where I have a right to be without fear. And I am prepared and will defend my rights if necessary, meaning if he throws a rock thru my window, I will return fire in his back as he's running away. If he become a threat to my life, then I will neutralize it...

Thanks for letting me vent some steam, I feel alot better, now that I just got to talk about it.

I just wish I had a dollar for every gun I wanted, then I'd be a rich man.

You might be better off calling the police and have them keep an eye on him for a while. The results would probably be better for you that way. A receptionist that works at one of my customers just recently went through the same thing except the clients were parking in her driveway while buying drugs from the dirtbag, The police are in the process of taking care of business.....OTO

Lee, you're a pretty good guy but let me give you some unwanted advice. Don't antagonize him when you are armed. Whether he knows you are armed or not. If someone else witnesses it and something happens later, you could end up in real deep doo doo. I've lived in a similar situation. When she moves another thug will be there to replace them. Probably in the same apartment. I suspect the manager you spoke with was a little too specific about who was complaining. You may want to consider moving. Don't look at it as running away, look at it as moving up. Also if I were in your shoes I'd brush up on your laws pertaining to self defense. I almost went to jail once because I pulled my Triple lock on a drunken kid who tried to hit me in the head with a beer bottle. He did this because I asked him to turn down his radio at 3:30 a.m. and then asked him for an I.D. before I'd sell him a pack of cigarettes.( I was working part time in an all night gas station) Luckily I was friends with the Leo that responded to the neighbors noise complaint. The Leo got me out of trouble by letting the kid go then calling the next town over on the radio. The kid got caught with a DWI and I stopped working in all night gas stations. Here the law says you have to avoid the situation and can't escalate it. Know your laws!!

I am not saying it is right and I am not saying it is wrong but...
you need to study your situation first ( are you married, have children, etc.) I had a similar situation happen to me years ago. There were these neighbors across the street that were drug dealers and were up all hours of the night. They never said anything to me per se but were getting bold and left some empty beer bottles in my yard. I decided I had enough. One day when I saw the whole entourage outside, I decided it was gun cleaning day outside. I moved my picnic table towards the front where they could get a good show and cleaned my M1a, ar15 and Bright stainless Colt Delta Elite 10mm. They got the message. No more beer bottles, no loud music and they mysteriously moved away after about two months. Now I didn't have a family there and I didn't do anything silly like point it at them or threaten them in any way. I just let them do the thinking if you know what I mean. Your situation is of course different. Thats a judgement call you have to make. If all else fails film them and show it to the police. Drug dealers hate cameras for some reason. Good luck and remember drug dealers are good...... if they are properly cooked.

Lee i have to say that i agree with you mostly

First off i would have done the same thing with the chair and stairing at him just to get my point across or just walked right up to him stairing him in the face (but keeping a good 6 inches or more away) said to him "Don't you be lookin over here, this aint non yo business fool..." assuming I didnt have a wife/gf nore any children (wich I dont right now) if I did then I would have probably just walked away and either called the police (the non emergency #) and found out what my options were and then follow through with what imho seamed the right thing to do or just do what your thinking and videotape him and give a copy to the super and have him either evect the gf or if the super didnt then call the police with it and have them evect him.

It does do a person good to blow off some steam. You should advise the police of the situation. That way they can file a report and it will be on file.If the police dont patrol the area as they should. Call them everytime he blows his nose, maybe they will get tired of hearing it and do there job. I wouldnt push antagonizing him to much he may force you into a situation where you would rather not be. Maybe the girl friend will move.

    Good Luck.

Like it's been said, get this guy on tap as much as possible. At first, get him on film without his knowledge and let the police see it. Then if your feeling brave, get some tape up in his face selling, and let him know what your doing. I'd be very careful if you decide to do this. The situation could become very dangerous, as you have incriminating evidence of this individual. I know that this can be very effective in deterring street prostitution. Good luck, and make sure to stay alert with this kind of trash in the neighborhood.

These kinds of people will sometimes push it to the point of no return, before he does, do what the other posters have advised. Tell the police and check your local laws about what you can and can not do "BEFORE" anything happens. If you show this creep you have firearms, chances are you will come home someday and the door will be kicked in, your stuff will be missing, and no one will have seen a thing. If they don't know you have it, they won't come looking to steal it.Good luck!!

If I knew then, what I know now.

Story, I had a neighbor move in down the road into a trailer. "I live in the country". Everytime they drove by they hollerd at my dogs and teased them. I do have a small range setup beside my house. They drove by hollerin and yep I racked off 3 30rnd mags into the backstop in a short order. I could hear them down the road saying I told you than man is crazy. Now when they drive by they won't even look my direction. And by the way nothing like them watching a couple of Highway Patrol and local Law Enforcent vechicles stop by to use the range from time to time. Free of charge of course.

Yea, I've been keeping a keen eye on my Jeep. Every time I hear glass break (usually someone running over a beer bottle, quite common here, cause all college students) I always peek out the blinds to make sure no one's breakin into it. And it would be very easy for someone to break into any of these appartments, my collection is at my fathers business in his safe. I try to be very inconspicuous in the transporting of firearms in and out of my appartment.

Good for you man. None of these guys ever expect their bluffs to be called. But escalating the situation beyond a simple "I'll look anywhere I want-- fu©k you" as you walk to your apt. is not the smart thing to do. Videotaping a deal is a great idea though. Thug types *will* mess up your car if they find out which one it is, and I wouldn't be surprised if you write in the next few days about a brick through your driver's side window or a giant key mark on the hood. Try calling your local PD with evidence on this guy. Good luck.

"And I am prepared and will defend my rights if necessary, meaning if he throws a rock thru my window, I will return fire in his back as he's running away. If he become a threat to my life, then I will neutralize it..."

I'm sure you're just venting, but if something does happen now and this thread ends up in the prosecutors hands, you're going to be enjoying Tyrone's colon-stretching techniques for the next 10-20, if you're lucky.

If he throws a rock through your window, call the Police.

If he throws lead through your window, then take him out. You have to prove your life or body was in imminent danger when using deadly force. Unless you married the police chief's daughter, you'll have a hard time turning a rock thrown randomly towards your home into a deadly weapon.

Just my two cents. Don't cower to the thug, but don't escalate the situation either. If he calls you a b*tch and you turn around and mouth off, you've escalated the situation in the eyes of the law. If the confrontation were to turn deadly, say he pulled a knife or gun at that point, you could still be held criminally liable even though at that point you're using "justified" force.

    Just trying to help.

    Lee,
Don't lose your cool. You are the bigger man for just walking away.
Guys like that get it sooner or later. Don't jeapordize your well being because of a character like that. I admire you for your stand however. Here you can't double tap someone to protect your property but you can for defense of you or someone else's life. It's easier as a citizen to do so but if you're a policeman they will hold you to a higher standard. I have those warning signs in my driveway where you constantly hear "Dueling Banjos" in the backround that read "We don't dial 911 around here". A friend told me if I blasted someone some hungry attorney might use that against me as I was being antagonistic.

badboybob, I like that saying, hope ya don't mind, but I'm going to borrow that as a lifes lesson to tell my kids one day...

Anyway, I was really just venting with that last little remark about the brick. I wouldn't really shoot him, I'd call the cops. I was mad, but I'm not crazy. But its all over with now.

I talked to the appartment manager today. She's definately taking care of it, and I heard a rumor about a sting.

But nonetheless, I haven't seen the guy at all today, and no activities last night. So maybe he got busted...

I don't know, but I really appreciate your guys advise and support. It makes me feel alot better.

Evil--Hey, I had an appointment with the police chief's daughter a few months ago. She was thinking about joining the Army but...nevermind. That stuff is protected by the Privacy Act. Anyway, she's not joining the Army. I can say that. Now she works in the deli section of the grocery store where I buy my cheese and I see her all the time. I was thinking about asking her out. Think I might be able to get that CCW here in this impossible county if I treat her right?

Have you tried organizing other people in your complex and paying
a visit to the girlfriend,or show up at a dope deal with a crowd
and a video camera, yelling ,chanting or creating a disturbance?
One person,he might be able to intimidate, but an entire community,
showing up night after night, creating a rukus is bad for dope business. Many communities have been successful with these tactics.

Remember IDS, it is the sheriff who approves, but some sway from the chief can't hurt lol! Good luck!

Are you considered a state resident when stationed in that state for x months? If so, apply. Just use hunting, target shooting, trapping and fishing as reasons why you want it. I know of no sheriffs who grant one for reasons of personal protection in Ia.

EvilATF,the idea is to GET the police there.I doubt seriously that the
dope dealer will call the police. Also,if he knows the whole community
is watching,he will move on. I doubt the police will arrest the
organized community, once they learn what the disturbance is about.
If the police arrest the citizens for an "unlawful"assembly, then that
community needs to appeal to a higher authority,as I would assume that
there is some kind of corruption on the local level.
Regardless, dope dealers don't want any unneccessary attention brought
    upon themselves.
