Bluffton gun show tomorrow & Sunday

Our first September weekend gun show goes tomorrow and Sunday. I have a feeling the promoters thought we needed one, since the Coliseum gun shows don't start until October -- a long time to wait!

I have no idea what to expect, but I'm hoping it will become a sizeable event. Unfortunately, Mom & Dad stopped by this week to show me their new car and Mom managed to give me her summer cold -- so if I'm up to it, I'll be going down there. Does anybody know what the low-down is on the requirements for a 4473 on a private sale? They're now offering transfers here for 10 bucks, but it's still unclear to me if it's a requirement of either the state or federal law, or not.

Is this in Bluffton, IN? Can't help with 4473.

Offeror - Last I heard here in Indiana a PRIVATE sale is just that,
private between two indivuals. No paperwork at all. I do believe this
applies only to long guns. Hand guns, i believe, require a transfer

The second admendment GUARANTEES the other nine and the Constitution!

Just read thur the regs. and the way I read it if you have a carry permit no background check, but I still think you have to go thru the paperwork on a handgun. I may very well be wrong too. Need to find a good dealer to ask these questions to but there's not one in the town I live in.

That's the trouble -- I've asked a dealer or two and the answer is so "wise" that I can't tell if they're being objective. Of course they have a stake in 4473 transfers. I need objective info about the requirements in a private handgun sale.

You might try packing.org and see what you can figure out. You can read the IN laws right off this site.
