Killed her first day on the job.....[V]
Bless her family and the Prince William Co VA Police Dept.
Officer Ashley Guindon was shot and killed while responding to a domestic disturbance in the 13000 block of Lashmere Court in the Lake Ridge area.
The male subject at the home murdered his wife and then ambushed the officers with a rifle as they approached the scene. Officer Guindon was fatally wounded and two other officers, including her training officer, were wounded.
The man who shot them was arrested at the scene.
Officer Guindon had been sworn in the previous day and was working her first day on the street with her training officer.
That could happen any days. [V]

Sad, sad deal.
The article I read stated that she had been with the force previously, had left for a time, and then came back. This was her first day of her second 'tour'. Doesn't sound like she was a brand new rookie.
Sad, sad deal.
quote:Guindon had been a county police officer a few years ago and had left and returned to the force, Corey Stewart, chairman of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors, said in a phone interview with The Associated Press Saturday night. He did not know the exact dates of when she started and left, he said.
What a F'd up world.
Don't know what else to say.
Hope they use a dull needle.
Cops just called 'em "domestics" or "a domestic."
Sometimes cops called us to the scene, sometimes we called the cops. Sometimes we handled it on our own and didn't call cops, if nobody had gotten punched and nobody was swinging a butcher knife around.
Cops hate "domestics." I saw it many times, we are there putting treating the cuts on the face of the battered woman, she is playing this "poor victim me" deal, sobbing and crying.
The cops get there and put the cuffs on her boyfriend, and the looney b**** attacks the cops! Seen cops attacked in this situation with mops, fists and baseball bats!
So the gal goes to the hospital for an overnight visit, and the guy goes to jail for a few days.
Two months later, guess what? We get called back to the same apartment, he has beaten her up again! She didn't leave him after the first time.
Back to the ER with the femme, back to jail with the guy.
Boy, we and the cops really are doing society a lot of good.
Come to think of it, paramedics hate "domestics" too.
Keep her fellow officers in your prayers.
Reports are the shooters is an Army Sgt. assigned to the Pentagon.

Yeah, and officer Guindon a USMC reservist.
Online information indicated that she graduated from Merrimack high school in New Hampshire in 2005, and had held a license to fly historical aircraft. A source familiar with her Marine Corps service said she held the rank of corporal and was assigned to a unit at Bolling Air Force Base involved with sending home the remains of fallen Marines.

virginia DOES have the death sentence carried out but trend has been less lately...the perp can choose one of two methods..hope they use both at the same time .....slowly
William Morva has yet to get his needle for the murder of Deputy Eric Sutphin. It has been almost ten years since his his cowardly act.[V]
We lost a young officer in my state just a couple weeks ago on the same type of call. Makes you wonder if they shouldn't just taze everyone when they get there and sort it out in the jailhouse..............
A TASER does not help you if you are ambushed at a distance with a rifle. There is very little one can do to defend themselves against a motivated, trained shooter with a rifle.
