Sad, friends son arrested in drug bust.

Our local paper is reporting the bust of a youngman who the local Drug Task Force is calling a "Major Dealer" in our area.
My daughter alerted me to check the article out, and I was surprised & saddened to see the alleged dealer was the youngest son of a good friend of mine.
He was caught in possession of 1/2 Kilo of cocaine, 4 lbs of Ecstasy tabs, and $100K in cash.
The last I knew he was a waiter at a local restaurant, and I know he didn't earn the $100K in tips.
The sad thing about this is that his parents are really great people, who would give anyone the shirt off their backs. His Mother was the kindergarten teacher for three of our daughters, and is now the principal for the private christian school they attended along with her sons.
I used to take him fishing when he was younger. He was always a quiet kid, but he was a good kid who was raised right.
As an LEO he would have fallen under the radar of anyone I would have suspected to have been involved in anything like this.
He has two older brothers, one is a High School teacher, and the other is an Assistant Pastor at a local Church, and is the leader of his own Christian band.
I guess how he was raised didn't really matter how he turned out, because something sure influenced him stronger them his upbringing.
I don't feel sorry for him. He made his bed & he will have to sleep in it, but I do feel sad for his Mom & Dad. They really don't deserve to be dragged through the hell he has just put them through...[V]

Pot has been an issue here. I swear....if I hear another rant about how it should be legal I'm going to loose my mind. You can yammer on and on about that mess and nothing can convince me that people that don't do it have better options in the world. No decent job allows pot heads to work for them.....end of argument. If you want a stable life...benefits...decent income...with opportunity to advance....that job is going to hire the best person they can for the position....and they do not want a pot head.
The thing that got me when we started catching our kids misbehaving were the people that had no clue their kids were in it too. I'd find text messages from their kids to mine and tell the parent what I found and they would almost want to defend them or deny it. I'd tell them I was just letting you know my kid is up to something and your kid is in on it. It was like I came into their homes and stole Christmas.
Local kid got arrested 3 years ago here. Ordered a bunch of pills through the mail. He just left Friday with a 4 year prison sentence.
Supposed to be from a good family and was engaged to a sweet girl we know from a great family.
Once again, no sympathy for his stupid *. But all the pain they cause for everyone around them.
It will be awhile before he sees the outside world again.
Kasey- employee drug testing ensures that the least creative, most conformist candidate (regardless of experience) will be selected.
Those "clean" employees could very well be involved in drugs, but the absolute worst drugs pass from your system in hours or days, instead of the (possibly second-hand) residues from reefer, which attach to fat cells, and linger for weeks.
Barriers to employment, like hair/skin/blood/urine testing for metabolites of certain drugs, are invasive, inconclusive, prejudicial, and used more for exclusion than selection.
I'd never take one (and, no; I take only what my Doctors prescribed) unless the person administering the test takes one as well. Even then, I'd know enough that I wouldn't ever work there. I was subject to the usual "random", "safety sensitive", "mandatory" testing for 25 years while Surveying for the State; never got "selected" for that particular indignity, but knew hundreds statewide that partook when off the clock.
The work got done, no more injuries than usual, same outcome; the reefer heads didn't go psycho anymore than the regular drones.
I don't believe that legalization is a good idea; there are enough idiots out there, that medicating them further might make them even dumber.
someone will be along shortly and blame it on bad parenting , but i am here to tell you thats not always the case, i have seen good families raise criminals, i have seen horrible families raise kids that went above and beyond and rise to the top
If your kids turn out well, you know you've done a good job. I also think you should know you've been lucky.
Restaurant folks still doing coke? That is so "Miami Vice". Well "H" is popular so I suppose retro drugs are back? I figure dude got the intro to drugs in the kitchen. Took it up to the next level by turning the tips in to drugs. Then restaurant crew topped off and "customers", too. Too bad dude didn't layer himself. Should've paid more attention to "Breaking Bad".
You sure as hell don't know much about life. Your mouth is definitely bigger than your brain. Kids have more influence over your kids than you do. PEERS. Old people are dumb don't you know that.

I raised my oldest daughter in a crime free drug free home. I did everything I could do to steer her in the right direction. She was set to join the Air Force after highschool and had a super paying job when she graduated.
I watched my daughtet get her high school diploma while I held my granddaughter in my lap, my daughters child. She became pregnant while still in school. That kinda put the brakes on the Air Force.
All of my kids were brought up in a drug free home. I am 100% anti drug, I have never had company at my home that used drugs, not even weed, weed was and still is unwelcome in my home.
My daughter not long after graduating got into drugs, weed, pills and I suspect meth. Her druggie boyfriend convinced her that stealing from her employer and thier clients was a good way to get drug money.
Long story short and leaving out a lot of BS, I raised my kids right, no crime, no drugs, they knew how I feel about stealing and dishonesty.
My daughter is now a felon, she will go nowhere in life.
Now tell me this, how is it my fault? Ohh I'm sure the armchair quarterbacks who lead a golden lifestyle can tell all the details of where I effed up, but they will only be guesses.
I like to say that due to the effort my wife and I put into our kids, generations of good active parenting, and a bit of luck we did OK.
Toughest job on the planet.
Magoo.

I get it, you are one of them stupid libs who do no wrong.
You enroll your kid in Jihad classes then cry and whine about how he was such a good student/kid and don't understand how your little devil could behave like that.
The Amish don't have these issues.
GROW UP and take some responsibility for your stupid choices. Don't let your kids "gang up" without suitable supervision.
You are just one of those lazy a@@ ignorant people who does no wrong, and then thinks it is everybody else's fault, then expect the rest of us to feel sorry and fix your mistakes.
Kids are biological computers, program them with info... they process it and use it the rest of their lives. Some can overcome bad programming, usually after a bad "crash", most just run the flawed routines until they die.
There are no bad dogs, just bad dog masters. Same goes for kids.
Parent are responsible for their children. Anything else is just an excuse.
I put the blame on the kid, and peer pressure.
The good Lord gave us the option of free will. We decided how we are going to turn out. I have seen & known people who were raised in the pits of hell, that raised themselves up by the bootstraps and made something out of themselves on their own with very little help from others.

Haven't been around many Amish have you? I spent a large portion of my life near Belleville, PA, an Amish community.
While 90% of them are honest hard working people they do spawn buttheads like everyone else. The thing with the Amish is most of their issues are taken care of "in house" meaning most of the time thier deeds never make the news.
And you are also wrong, kids will stray and do as they please. If what you say is true then how did I become what I am? I was raised in a strict Christian household, groomed for college, raised as a democrat.
Now I'm a truck driving headbanging tattooed republican AND WHILE I HAVE LIVED ON THE EDGE I'M WILLING TO BET THAT MORRALLY AND LEGALLY I'M STRAIGHTER THAN SOME OTHERS WHO CLAIM TO BE PERFECT SAINTS.

Guess you've never heard of Runspringa?
Guess you never heard of the "Preachers Daughter" either?
I know great parents that have one child that is a Dr and one in jail.
Nurturing only goes so far.
Kids are their own person. They will make their own decisions regardless.
As my Dad used to say, "you talk like you have a paper *".
I'm throwing the "bullsh##" flag. Parent are the main contributory stakeholders in raising child. Just because the parent is clueless, does not absolve responsibility.
At times you can be a real turd in the punch-bowl of life. Obviously, your parents never taught you manners or compassion....
You are one dumb fool. I am pretty well known from Oregon to England. Anybody who knows me knows I'm about as liberal as Ronald Regan.
You must have had too many beers. We lived in totally drug free and alcohol free Christian household. Thousands of good families had kids go bad. You lack about as much wisdom as any body I have ever heard.
For your information Amish kids go bad also. Before you shoot your mouth off some more you ought to go learn something.

Guess he is just proving his point. [}:)]
I was brought up in a large Catholic family with nine children. I was the middle child, and I saw it coming & going.
I was becoming a teenager during the flower child era. An older & younger sister both dived head first into that lifestyle. The crap they put into their bodies back then led to their deaths later in their 40's
My older brother got involved with one of the four big Outlaw Motorcycle gangs, and spent some time in jail. His friends were my friends, and his attorney told my Dad to get me out of that environment.
So, when I was 14 I went to live with my grandmother. She didn't play games, and raised me with an iron fist. I ended up being one of two of nine kids who graduated high school. I joined the Army, and later spent 36 years in Law Enforcement.
While I loved & respected my parents, it was my grandmother who steered me down the straight & narrow.
She taught me how to raise my four girls, and with love, an Iron fist, and a fear of God. All have graduated high school, two from college, three joined the military, two are combat veterans, and one is still going to college.
I'm fully aware how lucky my wife & I are, and having had free well our girls could have just as easily gone down the wrong road, but not without my tossing up some roI want fees to go ups first.

That boy is a big time dealer.
He is going to do some serious jail time, hopefully it will straighten him out.
