Yeah, the title is a play on Isoroku Yamamoto's quote.

I saw the JMSDF upclose. They are like pitbulls. When they bite, they don't let go. They use a lot of the same equipment we do license built by Kawasaki or Mitsubishi. The old vets that I would talk to in the bars at night still had fire in their bellies. If any country on Earth honors tradition, it is Nippon.

This is a good article on the current state.

Japan needs to get ready because once China is ina position to project power they will do it.

They should rewrite the constitution, when they do they should include a 2nd amendment. The next thing they need to do is develop nukes, ensure they have a second strike capability(Subs) and build up their anti missile capability.

"the Japanese people "forever renounce war" and that "land, sea and air forces, as well as other war potential, will never be maintained."

When the Japs signed that document they had their fingers crossed.
The Japanese are one of the greatest warrior cultures that has ever existed. Bushido. Samurai.

Yeah, they are going to rewrite that document and they will be ready for war again.
It especially galls Japan to see this little N. Korean nut posing a threat. The Japs are ethnocentric and racist, they have always looked down on Korea, and they call Koreans "garlic eaters."
The Japanese won't rest until they are capable, once again, of defeating Korea.

Hate to say this but they've been milk toasted for so long the "warrior spirit" is only found in Kurosawa movies. I'd say since the '80s they've been sliding down in defeat. I don't see the young Japos will do anything but play Nintendo while waiting for US to deal with enemies.

To me the so called young (you know the 30 year olds living at home married to a body pillow) remind me of Pandas. Too stupid to breed more Japos, so theres no new batches of Japos to replace the aged. And have to hire outside help like filipinos (exporting nurses like bananas to the world) to take care of the old. Only hope they have if invaded are the Yakuza.

"The Japs are ethnocentric and racist" sure that's true for the aged that are now dying and getting forgetty. The 40 and younger crowed remind me of "people" at places like Buzzfeed. They got no dog in this fight of the past.

So the Samurai have become a bunch of Metrosexual Millennials.
    That is sad to learn.

Yup. Even the Mongol hoards mellowed out. The Vikings went all Ikea so no more pillaging the village. Only people keeping it old school are the Muslims.

I recall in "Hagakure" dude was going on about how the samurai spirit was faltering and that was like 1700. This whole world today reminds me of an episode of "Twilight Zone". Where an alien race pops by and find the earthlings non violent so they laugh and destroy them. I think that's how it was.

    Yeah, The Twilight Zone.
Or, that movie "The Time Machine." All the handsome people are passive, they have no guns or any weapons, and they sit around all day eating fruit from the trees. They never fight, and they are polite to one another.

And, at night, the monsters come up from underground and grab a few people, drag them underground, and eat them.

The older generation has always underestimated the will, determination and fight of the younger generation. We baby boomers were pampered and soft, and could never measure up in spirit or military participation of 'The greatest generation'.

Looking at what kids in the US Armed Forces are doing today, and understanding that a generation ago the percentage of volunteers in country in Viet Nam was greater than the percentage of volunteers in the Normandy landings puts the lie to those that bemoan the pussification of our species.

Given a just cause, the current generation will respond no differently than did those that came before them. They are better informed than were we, however, and may take a little more convincing as to what a just cause may actually be.
Freedom and a submissive populace cannot co-exist.

Yes, I am afraid that you do pass for white.
Now, that I realize that you are Samurai, I am sure that you cannot live with the shame of passing for white.
I suggest you take your short sword and commit seppuku.
