Notice how the headline of the story does not mention Mexicans.
Notice how they slip it in in the middle of the story that some of the criminals might be illegals.
In typical fashion the liberal media massages the story, in an effort to not make illegal immigrants look bad.
Gang Violence Puts Idaho Town on Edge

CALDWELL, Idaho - Gunfire and gang violence are alarming people in this farm town where the usual background noise is the reassuring chug of field machinery.
Since July, police have received more than 100 reports of shots fired in Caldwell, a town of 30,000 halfway between Boise and the Oregon line. Two young men have been killed and several more wounded in drive-by shootings. Police believe most of the violence is gang-related.
Authorities are increasing patrols, and for the first time, neighborhood watches are springing up in Caldwell, a community that for decades has typified small-town conservatism and the farmland work ethic. Many are asking themselves how big-city gang problems reached their quiet corner of the West.
"I can't let my kids go outside," said Maria Salenes. "I don't know what to do anymore, I'm so scared."
Gunfire has plagued Salenes' neighborhood in the past, but the trouble came too close on Oct. 11 when the 37-year-old mother of four heard a midday thump on her door. When she opened it, a man she did not know fell into her living room, mortally wounded in a drive-by.
"He was breathing real hard," she recalled. "He tried to tell me something, but it was his throat. He couldn't talk at all. I feel like nothing is safe."
Two men have been charged in the slaying of Sigmund Goode, 21. The shooting was the fourth in a week in the mostly Hispanic neighborhood of working-class homes and tree-lined streets where many people go home for lunch. It also follows the slaying of 22-year-old Carlos Chavez in August. No arrest has been made in that slaying.
For more than a century, Caldwell has been a hub for one of the most agriculturally productive counties in the nation. Hops, onions, potatoes, beans, sugar beets and hybrid sweet-corn are grown here.
Thanks to a booming state economy, Caldwell's population has jumped 16 percent in the past four years after growing 41 percent in the 1990s. The area has a long history of Hispanic farmworkers migrating here every year to work the summer crops. But since the 1990s, more and more of the families have been settling here.
Police said gang activity, involving both young Hispanics and whites, has grown with the population.
"Poverty in some places is part of it, the lack of parental control, both parents working to keep their heads afloat," said Canyon County prosecutor Dave Young.
Police Capt. Chris Allgood said he has spent most of his 41 years in Caldwell and watched as the town slowly changed. "Fifteen or 20 years ago, we used to have a homicide every three or four years, and now we have three or four every year," he said.
More than 150 people turned out for a recent community meeting at the Hispanic Cultural Center.
"I want to make it an area where my children can go outside and play in the yard and not worry about getting shot," said Jennifer Bennett, 33. "We want to take back our neighborhood."
Police said their efforts have been hindered by witnesses and victims who are afraid to cooperate.
"People in the neighborhoods are the key to solving these cases," Young said. "By not stopping it, you're enabling it. The frustration's just not from them. It's both sides. We're frustrated, too."

Would you have prefered the story omitted any mention of whites as gang members? Would that have given it a less liberal bias?

Today in America, most if not all of the immigrant farm workers are illegal Hispanics.
I used to live in rural Idaho, and then, I was a young white American citizen. It is hard for me to believe that the culture of the young whites of rural Idaho has changed that much to cause a 1,600 per cent increase in the murder rate. I infer that the majority of the violence is due to the immigration of another culture.
If you study areas that have a long history of Hispanic immigration, such as Los Angeles, the first generation are hard workers, but often the second generation is more interested in drugs and gangs than getting a job. Police in Los Angeles keep very busy because of Latino gangs.
It would be nice if the newspaper would give the name and immigration status of all victims and shooters involved in gang violence in the past 3 years in this town. Then we could make up our own minds as to whether this gang violence is predominately the work of illegals. The newspaper has this information. But, the media usually bends over backwards to not make the illegal Hispanics look bad.
When I was in high School in the early 70's, the whole school only had about a dozen kids that were minorities. This was in Eureka,CA. which is fairly rural and isolated from major population centers. Now there is white, black, asian, and hispanic gangs. That brought with it the driveby's and other assorted violence that comes with gangs.

As far as I can tell the word "Mexican" (or any reference to Mexico) is completely absent from the story.
The term "Hispanic" includes American citizens, Mexicans, and various Central and South Americans. There are plenty of born-in-America Americans who use Spanish as a main language, so what?
Some of the criminals might be illegals, some may not be. Apparently some of them are white. Why assume the criminals here are Mexican? Some of them probably are, but clearly some are not, and the issue seems a lot more complicated than criminals entering the USA from Mexico.

You try to enter this country illegally, you get shot.
Since Mexico is by far the most abusing country, why don't we stop it?
Politics, plain and simple.
Funny thing is if you went to the home of a family of those illegal aliens (whether here or in Mexico) and just walked in and sat down intending to stay for a visit, they would get angry with you and say you had invaded their home and were trespassing on their property. Same thing would happen if you walked into one of the homes of their American supporters; or even walked into the newspaper office of one of the liberal rags that are in favor of open borders. The newspaper executive would have you thrown out by his armed security officers. (And yeah, check into it. Most of the anti-gun media has armed security).
Well, America is the HOME of me and my family and I don't want anyone here who is not here legally.

Am I missing the secret "liberal media code" here?
Not only does the story not mention Mexicans (or Mexico) AT ALL, it also doesn't even mention illegal immialiens AT ALL.
Are we supposed to assume that the entire city of 30,000 people in Oregon is comprised of illegal Mexican immigrants? What about legal migrant workers? (Many of whom are white).

Illegal immigration is about economics, not politics.
Mexicans benefit by coming here for jobs. Even crappy, low-paying jobs like picking melons are better than the high unemployment that they have down there.
Farm owners benefit by paying illegal Mexicans lower than normal wages, and not providing them with the health and other benefits that they would have to pay American workers.
A portion of those savings get passed onto Americans as lower produce prices, which translates in your pocket every time you go shopping for groceries.
Many of the gang members in Los Angeles are illegals. Hospitals are shutting down in LA at an astounding rate. No one in the media will mention it, but if you talk to the hospital administrators you will find it is because of the large number of uninsured illegals who come in for treatment and cannot be turned away. The hospitals loose money every time they treat one of these people.
I would rather pay more for my produce and have the immigration laws strictly enforced. Who says American citizens will not work those jobs, bull s***, I washed dishes in a restaurant when I was young, and my sister-in-law and her husband worked in the fields in Calif when they first got married, and they are white American born citizens.
The Hispanic rights advocates say it is "racist" to want to send these people back where they came from. Another bull s***, If Holland or Denmark were south of the Calif border and we had the same problem with them, I would say the same thing, send them back to their real home. The advocates are even trying to change the terminology from "Illegal alien" to " Undocumented Immigrant", what a crock.

Yes you are missing the secret liberal media code. When they say the murders took place in a "Hispanic neigborhood", when they say the town has a long history of "Hispanics immigrating to do farm work", what they mean is illegal Mexicans. Virtually every immigrant farm worker is a Hispanic who is here illegaly. I havn't heard of a migration of white farm workers, which country do they come from, Norway or Germany?
Yes there are people from Guatemala and El Salvador included, but most of them are Mexicans.
Of course the town of 30,000 is not composed entirely of illegal Mexicans. Most of the people are white citizens, as they were when I lived in that area 25 years ago. That was back when they had a very low crime rate, only one murder every 3 or 4 years.
Now that the illegals have settled in and are buying houses, the murder rate has increased some 1,600 per cent, to 3 or 4 every year.
The illegals who are not criminals, which is most of them, are still an enormous drain on our system. Federal law mandates that any one who shows up at an emergency room get free medical care. Same for schools.
Hospitals all along the border have closed down because of having to treat so many illegals for free. And, just like the murder rate in Idaho, there is a media blackout on this information. Nor will you hear a politician talk about the real reason for hospital closings.
If a California politician brought these problems up, he would immediately be labeled a racist by the liberal press, he would not get any Hispanic votes, and his political career would end.
