These girls definitely have skills. The publicity may invigorate another generation of kids to put down their electronic toys and get out on a playing field. [:)]

It was a beautiful shot that the goalie would have easily blocked but Carli saw she was out of position and went for it. I have to say I never watch Soccer but I watched a lot of this team and was not bored. They are the best.[8D]

She gets five gold stars for such a heads-up play.
USA had rung up 3 goals in the first 12 minutes and the game was probably over, but she stuck the knife in Japan's heart with that score.

I played competetive soccer for 17 years and only saw a goal like that on 2 or 3 occasions. You gotta have an alert forward with a strong leg to make that shot. That girl kicked that ball about 60 yards in the air!
And, made an utter fool out of the goalie.

I was hoping that the Jap goalie would cry out, "I cannot live with this shame" and kneel down, pull out her short sword and commit hari-kari right there in front of the goal.
