I've tested for a few local police depts. Well, I'm on the "list" for 3 right now. I'm setting 5,6 and 10 on those list right now. I tested for 2 more on sept. 5th and 6th. The first on on the 5th still doesn't have our scores yet. I have a friend who is a officer on the one I took the 6th. I had been out all day today and my wife said he'd been calling all day so I had better call him back. So I called him. He said they got the scores today and that I was number one!!!!! Finally!!!!! I was 2 points higher than the next closest!!!! I'm excited can't you tell??

    Now you need to sit down and drill your friend who is on the force about the rest of the hiring process. Have him set up a mock interview for you so you are better prepared. I think you are definitely going to make it somewhere, it sounds like you are determined and I wish you good luck.

    Thanks Mkirkland and Danceswithsheep. Mkirkland thats what I'm going to do. He was just hired about 2yrs ago so it should still be fresh in his mind.

    Dye_Maker: mkirkland's advise is golden. You will interview head and shoulders above the others if you do mock interviews with your friend. My interview way back when was with a deputy that I had rode with several times. We sat and talked for a few minutes and then he stood and said congratulations. Imagine all that neverousness for nothing.

    Stay cool. The oral board guys will try to rattle you and trip you up. Composure is everything.

    Then there is B-PAD, sort of a body language evaluation. Akin to voodoo, I think.

    Some agencies still use the polygraph. More voodoo. I would just as soon have Sister Clara give me a Tarot reading.

    I don't believe they use a lie detector. It will be a interview, pshylogical and then a medical exam. Then I will have to pass the West Virginia police academy entrance exam. I'm a little worried about the academy. Its a military type basic training. I've never had anybody in my face like they will be. I'm a pretty quiet person so maybe they won't notice me. lol
