Learning Your Local Laws

It seems that, from time to time, everyone will have disputes and brushes with the law, conflict is part of life.
However to arm yourself with knowledge of the law is as important as anything else you gather knowlege about.
You may know about the guns you shoot and the ammo you reload, but when push comes to shove, and you don't know the basics of the law, and what basics are elements to a crime, you can win the battle but lose the war.
What I am getting at is to arm yourself with knowlege of the the basic crimes, and their elements, and what citizens can and can't do to protect themselves, from other citizens or ill trained or bad cops.
When you can and can't do a citizens arrest, what form and how much force can you use to effect an arrest, or protect your life or family?
These things can and will effect how you live your life.
The laws, and how they are carried out, vary by state, so you must learn how they work in your state.
So my suggestion to all is to learn how to protect yourself and your family. It is as important as anything else you do to for your family.

What do you think?

Definitely. In fact, anyone who's interested should read a book called " In the Gravest Extreme " by Massad Ayoob. Just finished it myself. Not the best book I have ever read, but an interesting book nonetheless. I picked it up because everyone I spoke to said it was a good book for anyone interested in owning/carrying a gun. Also, depending on where you live, most LEOs are more than willing to talk to you about local laws.

    Diddo dk62,
I have a fairly close relationship with several local LEO's.They are always more than happy to answer any question about firearms laws.
They have also been instumental in formulating my attitudes, and
    mindset concerning conceal carry.
