I had heard a few things before he did but alot of it seemed to escape me before,my friend just played me a cd he burned of David Allen Coe songs and if you have never heard anything by him take a listen some of it is pretty damn funny, some of it is very true and some is just the I cant beleive hes singing this stuff type of thing. He pushes the boundries to say the least and that is still a gross understatement.

greetings, one of my favorites is jimmy buffet doesn't live in key west anymore, then there's divers do it deeper, and ofcourse you don't have to call me darlin, he also wrote for others like jonny paycheck's take this job an shove it. but the one that put him on top was longhaired redneck. if you like his music you should check out another texan jerry jeff walker, they have a simular outlook on life. respt submitted dads-freehold

    I started buying D.A.C. LPs around 1979.
By 1985,I had 21 of them.

I got rid of all my records in 1986,
but my younger brother said,"let me
have them Coes.So I gave them to him.

He died of a heroin overdose about 4
years ago,so I got them from my mother,
who found him all stiff on the bedroom
    floor.Ha,Ha,Ha...maybe I should get Dave
    to write one about that.

    Anyway,along with Neil Young,Hank Williams,
and a select few,David Allan Coe is my favorite.

David is one of my favorites. He is often accused of racism from singing reality which, makes the fearful whites and their heros the naacp cringe in fear. GO DAVID there some out there that doesn't fear the truth.

One of the best concerts I ever went to was DAC opening up for Willie. Really got godd when David Came out at the end and they play ed for about an hour together.

I find something troubling here.I see Waylon and Willie and Jerry Jeff but nobody has mentioned Johnny Cash or Johny Paycheck and surely Paycheck is wild enough to fit outlaw like any of the others. He was out stabbing and shooting people in the bars.Let not forget that ole Colorado Cool Aid now.

He will not perform any of his songs about black people any more. They are truly unique.

Of my 21 LPs,HUMAN EMOTIONS is my favorite,
the one with a HAPPY SIDE,and a SUICIDE.

He was puting out some great stuff till
    around '85.

He was on stage with..I think Willie and Waylon in the mid seventies, sombody saw
the'OUTLAWS'patches and stuff on the back
of his jacket, and that set off the "outlaw"fad in country music..but they
left out Coe,he was a little crude for
the image they were trying to promote.

They wanted to go with a little more
    watered down "outlaw'image.Willie and
Waylon fit that ticket pretty well.

    Eric,
I've mixed DAC's live sound a couple of times.Strange bird. His road manager and his bands are always cool.Other sound guys I know refuse to work for him based soley on his reputation, but he has never been
anything but professional with me.He just likes it loud as heck!!!
    DADS,
Met J.B once. His sister owns a restraunt on Fish River(Lu-Lu's).Good Food.He comes down every so often and plays a free acoustic show at the restraunt. Nobody ever finds out 'till the day before, and word just kinda spreads!
