I found this story on another post.Is this old news on this board?

Below is a letter written to American Handgunner Magazine and published in the Sept/Oct. 2002 issue. Let me quote from part of it:

Quote:
Enclosed you will find a copy of the Chicago Police Department's "City of Chicago Regulation Defining 'Assault Weapon,' Department Notice #02-18."
The Mayor, through his tool the Superintendent of Police, has ordered Chicago Police officers to "...end their ownership of such weapons or remove them from the geographical boundaries of the City of Chicago prior to 1, May, 2002." They then define assault weapons and go so far as to prohibit certain semi-auto handguns as in: "...a semiautomatic version of an automatic firearm..."
...It seems this would prohibit the department-approved Beretta 92, which is, indeed, a semiautomatic version of the fully automatic Model 93R. Desert Eagles are also banned.
If you are disarming the police, guess who's next? Take some action. Join the NRA and become active. It isn't about the National Guard. It's about your right to defend yourself.

A copy of the original department notice as issued by the City of Chicago was forwarded to Handgunner along with the letter for the record.

One could point out the obvious, but any reader with an IQ higher than room temperature can figure out the sinister implications of this one.
