Thanks for the tip on American rifleman,I just got off the phone with RGUNS.I ordered 8 of their new in wrapper Colt 30round magazines, they were advertised as being $29.00 each but along with some other stuff I ordered he gave them to me for $25/each.Not bad,so I wanted to thank you.I got the New Colts because my gun is Colt and I'm one to keep everything as original as possible. He told me they had black followers, now I've been reading things here and there about the green followers being the best but I don't know if there is any difference in the Colt/USGI mags and followers.
Maybe you could help me with another question I have.I ordered a VHS AR-15 armoror video from "The American Gunsmith Institute"(I do this whenever I buy a gun with a different operating system).I am trying to figure out what I need for complete cleaning and maintenance on the AR-15 as well as any special tools needed to completely strip it down.I am also interested in any other gadgets that make shooting it more enjoyable,I'm considering a new grip but I haven't made up my mind yet. Thanks again,Josey

I am glad you have aquired yourself some of the good mags before they are all gone (some day). As far as cleaning, I just use the same tools as everything else. The AR has a lot of little crevices and nooks inside, so the dentist picks and old toothbrushes come in even more handy. They are great for scrubing the bolt and carrier as well as small parts in the bolt. The picks can get into the small areas where the bristles won't reack and you can scrape out powder residue and small bits of brass etc. I think as far as goodies, you have it all. Yours came with the telestock and flash hider. The only other thing, which would make yours a great "up close" rig would be a scope mount with a holosight. Now that, is a sweet set-up on a 16" rifle with collapsable stock.

Do a search for AR mags, I can't remember, but there is a company that sells the green follower, spring, and floor plate kit for $5 each. Nice to have around. I would get yourself some used military mags and install the green followers in those. Use those to shoot and practice, and leave the colts in the wrapper. you can always use those later, but for $5 a rebuild, the less valuable, used military mags will never wear out.

A great rifle with a junk scope,....is junk.

As far as maintenance goes, about the only thing you really need is a standard mil spec cleaning kit. It should come with a bore brush, barrel brush, cleaning rod, oil bottle and a tip for cloth patches. The other thing I recommend is pipe cleaners for cleaning the gas tubes, one above the barrel and the other on the bolt carrier. Pretty easy to maintain weapon.

When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....
