As usual when I work on the simplest of things, stuff goes haywire! Got a "check engine light" so went to the garage on base to get a diagnosis. Computer says # 6 is missing sometimes. No worries, need a tune up anyway. Got part and all that jazz, fight to change the plugs and wires. Finally, the easy part; cap and rotor. Rotor goes on fine. Put the cap in place and start to tighten it down, crack! What the hell? How about the mounting holes on the distributor are in a plastic, yes plastic base. Cost for new distributor; $156, will arrive on Tuesday. What a great day!(sarcasm)

Finally got around to taking the body lift kit off of my S10 4x4. Was going to be a 2 hour job until I found the crossmember rusted out, which helped me find the rust holes in fender, etc.

Ain't nothing quick or simple these days..

and the 105 heat factor doesn't help either!

Drove a Chevy 1500 pulling a trailer last year. I was missing my exit, so I rompted down on the brakes. At first they were stopping, then boom! They let go. Smoke everywhere and no brakes! Got stopped using the trailer brakes and the emergency brake. Got out and looked under the hood. A PLASTIC master cylinder had blown up from the pressure. I'll stick with the Fords and Dodges from now on.

I was talking to a neighbor one time, standing alongside his car on the driver's side. Happened to look down at the dashboard. Didn't say a word, but after he left, I about split a gut, laughing.

He had solved his "Check engine soon" light problem. Piece of black electrical tape covering it up! Unbelieveable.

Damn computer even told me the number of times the damn thing had missed! 192 times, stupid trucks counts the dumbest stuff. I wish it would count the # of fish I was catchin' or something else useful.

Damn Dodges, my check engine light has been on and off for who knows how long, nothing is wrong so they say. I had a Olds Achieva that had the same thing and they said the cluster something dohickee needed replaced and that would cost me up to $300, but it would have to be done at the factory and they could not tell me a price until it was done, needless to say it did not get repaired and it never caused any problems. Same as the ABS light on the dash, no one seems concerned about the ABS thing except me, some mechanics say its a good thing if they are out.

my girlfriend has a volvo that the check engine light comes on if you don't tighten the gas cap until it clicks twice -- and then you have to take it to the dealership to have them turn the light off. i told her not to buy a car with 5 cylinders.

Saved myself about $800.00 Saturday by replacing my timing chain and front seal/gaskets and doing valve adjustment myself. Labor charges at the gar(b)age were $63.00/hr. I couldn't brelieve it, $63/hr and the mechanics get about $12/hr the dealer pockets the rest. It sucked, 103 degree heat from 9 in the A.M. until 8 in the P.M. but I saved enouph money to buy a new gun lol...

When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....
