Bill revisits licenses for illegal immigrants

By Ed Fletcher -- Bee Capitol Bureau
Published 2:15 a.m. PDT Wednesday, August 20, 2003

A revised bill allowing illegal immigrants to obtain driver's licenses would require all California motorists to submit to a high-tech fingerprint scan and could double the fee for new applicants.
The proposed amendment to SB 60 is the result of a compromise worked out between Gov. Gray Davis' office, the bill's author and other stakeholders late last week. The legislation is set for an Assembly committee hearing today.

Only in California...honor the crime breakers with...Drivers Licenses.

I have read this article twice and it makes no sense. No wonder the people in California need to get Gray Davis out of office. License illegal immigrants????? I have a better solution, call the local immigration office and bus or fly them out of the country. Something about being an ILLEGAL immigrant makes me think that they aren't supposed to be here!!! And just in case anyone wants to flame me on the latino side of this story, I don't care what country they are from. An illegal immigrant needs to be kicked out of the country!

A valid California driver's license works anywhere in the USA which in effect gives illegal immigrants legal status anywhere in the USA.

A country without borders is not a sovereign country.

Jay Leno had it right: give California back to Mexico then no one will want to go there.

Guess how long it will take for the illegal to take their valid California license and vote for Gray Davis or any democrat is future elections. That the real reason for the legislation.

What away to run a railroad.I worked in California ten years ago.I thought it strange when I drove thu a an area and all the store names were in mexican.Drug store was botica, and on and on.Being from Nm I new what they ment.Texas ,az ,and ca lets them all in.The e-legals were cleaning houses, and gardeners back then. Now they come into the states from further south than Mexico. There is one big company that brings them and gets them visa's(i'm not talking credit cards),not work visas .Then they put to work at slave type wages. Its up to us to find out if they can legaly work here. Its are job to stop them from drawing social security. Its are job to find out if they can get all the government benies. If we don't call the INS people its are fault. Some of the e-legals go thru hell ,with the tyrants they work for.Wake up AMERICA your being robbed! Please excuse the spelling.

The real dope on the issuance of State Drivers' Licenses to "undocumented aliens" is that when a person has a valid I.D from any state, they get reciprocity from all other states.
This means that when an alien gets a license in Kaliforny, that alien can then get "residency" status in any other state, using the D.L. as "proof" of citizenship.
NM's blowhard, grandstanding Governor, Bill Richardson, has proposed a similar scheme for the "poor, neglected, and possibly disenfranchised" Mexican illegals. The "disenfranchised" should be the warning bell every time you hear it. Texan Democrat Senators are right now hiding in Albuquerque (at the Marriott Pyramid) to protest redistricting by majority Republican Texans, so they won't "disenfranchise" large numbers of illegal aliens that already have out-of-state Drivers' Licenses.
The conversion from undocumented to documented is as easy as going to the DMV for a Texas D.L..
Now, with the legal I.D.; they can register to vote for the Democrats that made the whole thing possible, and hopefully get lots of medical care, handouts for SSI, WIC, food stamps, extended unemployment pay, and other safety nets for American workers; thus draining money from the American peoples' budgets in the states that enact this silliness.
It all boils down to pandering to the lowest common denominator in order to perpetuate the illusion that Democrats are compassionate toward the downtrodden and oppressed (and illegally here!).
Until we find a way to seal the borders effectively; we will be stuck paying for the medical care of kids born to illegals in this country, educating them (in their own language), housing them, and providing other benefits that U.S. Citizens cannot get due to the overwhelming numbers of these people siphoning off the funds.

If you know it all; you must have been listening.WEAR EAR PROTECTION!

quote:the bill's author and other stakeholders

And I will bet the other stakeholders are Labor Contractors and the California Farmer. Let me put it this way, as I see it, it is the only possible chance for the INS to keep tabs on these guys and make a few bucks for the state. The last time the INS came through here, they had rounded up about 35-40 day laborers that were in fact illegal. They were herded into a white bus and then taken to San Francisco for processing and deportation.

    Now what really happened!

Well, as it goes, The INS posed as a produce company when they picked these guys up.
Thinking they were headed for work, they did not know they were head for deportation.

Long story short, after hearing a few cases, the Supreme Court Ruled that action as "illegal entrapment" (sorry for the pun), which in turn they were set free. (Go figure)
So now the INS just screwed them selves by getting more local and state laws passed that now further protects them.

It is a situation that's been going on for a 100 years most of them are seasonal workers that come here just to work the fields and in winter return home. Or go to the next state that has work. It's just a legal Cat and Mouse game between Farmers, Labor contractors, the INS and the state.

Now you want to talk about a Real Problem, Mexican Truck drivers coming over the Boarder! I got to Ask 7mm nut about that one

Mark, you can't have Homeland Security when California hands out drivers licenses to anyone whom enters this country illegally.

Most illegal aliens don't want it known they are in this country so they wouldn't even apply for the license. They are too busy stealing Cadillac Escalades and driving them to Brazil for $15,000 a pop.

Yep, politicians will give 'em whatever they want as long as they'll vote Democrat. Wish they'd keep em off the road at least, Mexico and its drivers apparently have no concept of a "fast lane"[}:)][;)][xx(]

I have a troop working for me, USAF, that is from Mexico. He's and active duty airman who's supposed to be defending y'all.

President Bush said all non-residents in the military can apply for citizenship immediately and not wait the old 3 years of service to apply.

Funny things is he, and three others in my Squadron aren't applying for citizenship.

    Why?

Then they would be eligible to be sent overseas and to Iraq. They sit out there time in the States collecting benefits and are heading back.

They have the nerve to whine about paying INS the $300-400 to be a citizen.

What I am noticing is he is purchasing a new car and maxing out his credit cards...must be getting prepared for leaving the country and the debts to each and every one of us....Guess in some folks eyes it's a smart thing to do...rip off the stupid American's.

So, its ok to give illegals drivers licenses. How do you suppose they will be able to procure an insurance policy for a vehicle if they aren't a citizen? Do you think an "illegal" cares about breaking the law? Who is going to get stuck paying for damages if an uninsured illegal has an accident? Wake up!
