First, thank you all for your prayers for our family and my son, Joe's family since he was ambushed, robbed, and so brutally killed Christmas eve 2000 as he was closing BEST BET GUN & PAWN SHOP in Charleston, SC, Joe had worked 26 years, 6 and 7 days a week without a day off. He was closing his shop to do Christmas shopping for the kids and to take his ill wife on a short vacation. Joe begged for his life and did not resist the career criminals who robbed and shot him execution-style. Clues, found by his son (who now sells on here) led police to the suspects. Until Chris thought of a place where their might be fingerprints, the police had no clues whatsoever. Police now have the recovered security tape showing everything. The man who pulled the trigger is on trial for his life starting June 3rd, The other two will probably be tried in August. This has been a trying time for mom and me. She has had a stroke over Joe's murder and we both cry every day. Chris is in bad shape emotionally for it was he who found his dad within minutes of the murder. Joe was a Christian and we know he is in Heaven waiting for us. But we need your continued prayers that we can get through this. Pray, too, that our justice system can be corrected. Joe's killers had over 150 previous charges but, due to political correctness, had always gotten off with a reprimand or their cases were "nol prossed". We sincerely thank all who sent cards and donations to the family which lost all its savings in the robbery. Ed Howell (Joe's dad)

    Hi Ed,

I'm in the Charleston area; had bought a few things from Joe over the years. He was certainly "one of the good guys"; it was shocking and disgusting when he was murdered.

I'm not the praying type, so I can't offer any assistance there, but you and your family have my sincere sympathy.

I do hope justice is served properly to his murderers.

    Joe

There was an exact copy of that scenario in Seaford DE. a few years ago. These kind of people make me sick. To tear a family apart like that deserves the maximum punishment.

God grant the strength to help you and your family endure this till justice is done.
