Springfield XD?

Anybody own or have experience with the Springfield XD, particulary the .40 S&W?

How are they for concealed carry? My first plan was to get a Sig, but these XD's seem nice and slim, and theyre quite a bit cheaper than the sigs.

When the Springfield XD was the HS 2000, was the Manufacture in Croatia? If so does Springfield now manufacture them?

I own 2 Springfield XD handguns a .40 cal and the 13Rd .45 acp pistol, which both function flawless. My question is whats the exact difference in the XDM Models?

We sold a couple of them at the show over the weekend, they used to be called HS-2000 when they first came out and were manufactured in Croatia. They have the frame and trigger of a Glock ,the slide and barrel and action of a SIG, and the grip safety of a 1911. All reports are favorable so far, and I believe they were Guns and Ammo's handgun of the year for 2002, hope this helps, good luck...

I have the XD 9mm 4" service model. I love it. I would make a slight correction to what sigman said. The XD has a frame similar to a Glock, but the Grip angle is that of a 1911. To me, the XD is a much more natural shooter than the Glock. But then, I grew up with the 1911 type gun. For someone completely used to the larger / expanded grip angle of the glock, this wouldn't apply.

This is a great gun. There have been several torture tests done on them similar to the glock test. I have about a thousand rounds through mine so far and not one FTF or FTE.

If you need more info, there is a webiste dedicated to this gun at: www.hs2000talk.com

Let me know if you want any more info.

Nah! Stick with the Sig, you won't be sorry. The price is higher on the Sigs but you get what you pay for, especially if you plan on keeping it for a very long time. My theory is to stick with a proven winner and let the other guy prove out the unproven one.[:)]

I would disagree with toolmaniam. The XD is about half the price of the sig, and it is every bit as reliable. Accuracy is a different story - but then, you aren't buying a competition pistol, but one for CCW.

(Note: The XD is every bit as accurate as other pistols in it's category - like the Glock - I didn't want to imply otherwise)
