Whats the Difference?

I'm considering purchasing a Weatherby .300 win mag with a synthetic stock and have been shopping their website quite a lot. The problem is the Specs that they provide don't indicate much of a difference between the basic model and more expensive rifles. The rifle I'm most interested in is this one:
http://www.weatherby.com/product/rifles/vanguard/back_country $1,119.00
http://www.weatherby.com/product/rifles/vanguard/synthetic $399.00
However when compared to the second model the only differences I see are: The backcountry is 3/4's of a pound lighter, has a pillar-bedded stock, the barrel is fluted, and the finish is Stainless Steel. So my question is are those differences worth the price change or is there other differences that I am not seeing?
