Choke tube question

This could be on either board but since I am already here...........

Recently I had Briley's put in some choke tubes for my Beretta SxS. At a recent sporting clay shoot, there was a guy who was taking the tubes out after the shoot and cleaning the threads in the bore. He said it was important to do so because the tubes would get stuck if you didn't.

Never heard of this. Should I do it?

I think he is a little *. I fired over 3000rnds in a benelli and a beretta both, on a dove hunt in Argentina without cleaning a single thread. The chokes came right out. Clean them every so often and you will have no problems.

A great rifle with a junk scope,....is junk.

I've heard of choke tube threads siezing up but have never experienced this....suspect the threads were not lubricated. I put a little "never sieze" on mine...can be messy if you get too much on.

I have shot alot of skeet with mine and all I do is routine maintenance, with a little choke lube. Everyone is different about protecting their firearms. I clean all of mine after each use people tell me all the time it is not necessary. And it probably is not but it makes me feel better. AS for choke tubes they get greased about three times a year.

    Hope this Helps.
