I posted not too long ago asking for opinions on what my baby sister should get to keep in her apartment she is moving into by herself. We went to the gun shop easrlier and she felt up a few different pistols. She liked one but did not have enough money so I gave her the difference. She is now the proud owner of a Smith & Wesson Model.10 w/4" heavy barrel. We went to the range immediately after the purchase and man she is a natural!I didnt have to teach her much about the hardest thing was teaching her how to aim with both eyes open.I bought her two speed-loaders and a box of Speer Gold Dot +p as her protection ammo as well as 5 boxes of practice ammo.I told her if some scum bag breaks in to call the police and get on the far side of her bed and if that door opens before the cops get there to let them have it.I was worried before but I think she will be alright. She loves her gun and was very excited, she used to think guns were evil until she saw what happened to me now she respects what good they can do.Thans to everyone who posted for help and to put my mind at ease with my suggestion to her it seems to have worked out great.

Good for you. Make sure she has a phone extension or cell phone on that side of the bed as well, and a good lock on the BR door to slow down the perp. Even if she makes the call before she gets to her safe room, (may be time to call, may not) she'll want to take the phone off the hook to keep the line open beside her.

Make sure she doesn't keep it locked up under a pile of junk in the closet where she'll never be able to get to it.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

Nah she said its staying either under the cover with her or under the bed between the bed and the wall where she will duck down.I bought her a door club to put on her front door but she said she is going to put it on her bedroom door so I figure if anyone beats the door hard enough to get in armed or not its time to open up cause they meen some harm.

Wow, I wish I could get my sister to do that. I wish I could get all my female friends to be like that. You should be very proud of yourself.

Excellent choice on gun and load. Good advise on the cell phone and make sure to keep the line open. Remember it is being recorded wherever central dispatch is.

Lots of women are natural shooters once they accept the fact of being armed. I prefer to teach a CCW class to new lady shooters than men.
On a subject they have an interest in they come to class prepared, pay attention, ask questions, and don't act like a macho dimwit.

Tell your sis congrats on her new 'security blanket' and keep practicing.

E.Williams...You are a great brother, your sister should fell very fortunate. Don't know the CCW laws in your state, but would get her into a CCW course so she can get her CCW permit. Even though you have spent time with her at the range the instruction she will receive in getting her permit will only provide her with more safety instruction and inform her of the do's and don'ts in her state.

I was thinking the same thing; what a lucky sister you
have. What a great brother you are!!!

Glad there's another gal with a gun out there. Wish they
we're all armed and dangerous. Ha! She won't be a victim,
not a pushover one, that's for sure. I can't talk my
sister's into carrying a gun, or even keeping one in
their house. After I bale out my new sako, and get my
son a nice 22, I'll be looking for a personal handgun.

Wish you we're my big brother.
