SOUTH DALLAS: SHOOTING OVER AIR CONDITIONER

(SOUTH DALLAS, August 7) -- Dallas police are investigating a shooting in which a homeowner shot a man trying to steal his air conditioner early this morning. Police were called to the scene in south Dallas around 4:30. The man says he caught the robber trying to take the window unit out of his home in the 1800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. He fired one shot, hitting the man in the chest.

DALLAS -- A suspected burglar was shot dead Wednesday morning after trying to invade a Dallas home on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Police said the homeowner told investigators he saw the suspect attempting to break into a window in his home, and shot at him, hitting him in the chest.

The suspect died on the way to the hospital.

    As miserable as the weather has been here all summer, this perp would've been DRT if he'd touched mine. Inarguably self-defense, I'd have died in June without one. Darn, but it was hot June & July, and so humid we could almost drink the bloody air.

    Pennsylvania Ave is in a bad and poor part of town. The air conditioner may have been worth more than the house. At any rate, the idea of taking someones property in Texas is protected by the use of deadly force in most instances. I'ld say it was justified.

    Here in Maryland, the guy would get automaticaly 5yrs for discharging a firearm let alone ssault with a deadly weapon or quite possibly a second degree murder indictment.
    You are not allowed to defend your property with deadly force. This is ACLU country.

    Justified self defense. He could say the man was threatening that he was going to kill him with a heat stroke...

    When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....
